Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought we were going to have a poll to see where it should be held. I didn't think were were going to have MANY polls. If we were going to chose the top cities and have another poll, why leave off cities that were suggested in the first place? We could have 10 polls and narrow it down to where the most vocal chose to have it. That is hardly fair to those of us who DO plan to attend and went to GREAT lengths to attend the KC one even thou it in NOWHERE within driving distance of KC. I don't think any of us are rich or have unlimited funds to travel. I just don't understand the concept of having a poll then having another poll if the city that wins isn't the one someone wanted it to be. This is just my own observations and I hope I didn't make anyone mad, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

I wasnt able to go to KC this year because my husband and I made a huge financial investment ...it was unexpected and so far has been very lucrative to my family.
So, I wasnt privy to the decisions made in KC. Actually this is the first that I have heard that it was already decided in KC that it would be on one of the coasts.

So does that mean if it is in San Diego in 2009 that it would automatically be on the east coast in 2010??
I was in KC and I don't think it was decided there at all. It was MENTIONED, but that decision was made at the time that KC was chosen as the first location. Then it was decided that it would be either east or west coast for the next one. and yes, if it is the east coast now, it will be west coast next. I for one do hope it is the west coast. Because I know there will be a good turnout for sure. A WHOLE LOT of the California people supported and attended the KC one, so I would be willing to bet we would have a huge turnout. On the other hand, if there isn't a good turnout on the next one,. there likely wouldn't be a third

I see your point Sonya. My reason for asking is because if the majority of people are choosing are one coast over the other, I think that needs to be taken into consideration. If you have 80 people who will for sure come if its on the West coast, but only 40 will come for sure on the East Coast - even though the cities are divided then I think we have to take that into consideration. Because what if one city wins

And right now if you add up the votes based on Coasts, there are 70 votes for the East and only 47 for the West, even though currently San Diego is winning overall

I think maybe a better poll would have been 2 choices: east coast or west coast..... once a coast was chosen then cities could have been narrowed down. JMHO

It was a huge sacrifice for me to give up the trip this year Especially after my husband gave me the green light.
I really really wanted to go. I am concerned about flying 8 hrs with Bella though. How would I potty her? Any ideas?
I am willing to try I just will need some ideas if it comes to the east coast!!
But if I missed it...it would be really sad for me not to have another chance to go.

That is true, but I would imagine that midwesterners will also chose east cost if given the choice because it is closer. In fact, I was asking Mike as we were driving home, why do they call it the mid west when it really isn't mid.. It was almost 24 hours from here to there.. over 1500 miles it is a little over 2200 miles to get to the east coast. I just think it would have saved a lot of trouble to first chose a coast, then chose a city. That way if the coast you are hoping for didn't win and that was going to prevent you from attending, then you wouldn't have to vote for a city. Only those who planned to attend on the chosen coast would be voting

Yep, that might have worked better, but I think those of us in the middle of the country seem to be a bit divided on where we would choose. At this point, I would probably have to be among the flying anyway -- unless I find a man & a big RV - like you!

Well, I've flown to Florida from Iowa before so I had a layover and I know some say they have even used a pee pad in the airplane bathroom - not sure how you make that work - maybe you stand on the toilet and put the dog and pad on the floor - LOL

But a lot of folks say they use the pad in the restroom at the airports during layovers - mine aren't great about going on command on a pad. And at one point when we were stuck on a plane that was delayed, I had a flight attendant want to give the dogs water, but I was more concerned then they would need to go - so I turned down a drink for them

hahaha how I WISHED we had a big RV. Actually we rented that one. As it was it cost us almost $3000 for the rental and another $3000 for gas. Then the hotel, campgrounds, etc.. YIKES!

Well I just voted for Alexandria, VA after taking a couple days to think about it!

I'm sure if we did a breakdown in the votes, most people voted for cities closer to their homes for various, common sense reasons, travel, financial, etc..
I think it's common sense to also expect that whichever coast wins out, the majority of people from the other coast will probably not attend. I think that is just reality and whoever that may be, we will just have to bide our time until the next year when it makes it's way across country!
The US seems to be pretty darn big when you are trying to gather people from one end to the other to meet in one place!

It is something I would be willing to consider. But any of the choices are a LONG way from Dallas, so most of my weekend would be spent driving.

None of it will matter, however, if my financial sitaution doesn't get better by next year...I won't be going anywhere.

Lisa if you plan to fly, there is a definitely layover that's for sure . . is your little Bella pad trained? If so what I do is take Annika to the family restroom so she has privacy and no distraction when whe goes . . .bringing her to the women's bathroom is defintely NOT going to work out for her needs . . . and since all airports have Family restrooms, getting her to potty will never be a huge problem for me . . hope bella does the same too

I know that having so many polls sounds ridiculous. Perhaps we could have another poll once we get the east coast and west coast location. It seems to me that most of the east coast people are divided between Alexandria and Savannah, but on the west coast most people are only choosing san deigo. But if you add up the totals more people want east coast locations than west coast locations. Also, the distance from Savannah to Alexandria really isn't too much.

I don't really mind where it is . I just thought I would throw that out there.

That would have been a good idea... probably could have looked into more places then too.
