Yes, that is correct!!! The under 6 mos only pertains to having two in one carrier. Glad to know that at least American allows more than 2 pets in the cabin. Maybe we can have a party on the flight out from Indy :D!!!!!!

wow! looks like CA is winning! UGH! that is so far from me and if everything is expensive like it is now, I'm not sure I could make it. :(

I was thinking the same thing....CA is all the way across the country from FL. :( Not to mention, I just checked flights on America Airlines (I checked for May, because that's as far in advance as it would let me go) Just for one round trip ticket it's $458, and that's not including a ticket for my BF or tickets for both of the dogs....not to mention hotel costs. :rolleyes:

Tixs may end up being less than that, because ticket prices fluctuate. You get the best deals usually about 2-3 months in advance. I know when I was checking flight prices to Boise a couple months ago for October they were almost $800. Now they are down to about $400.

agree with is having another poll...When i read the thread i thought
that there was only going to be one poll and one poll only...I just dont think its fair...I was not able to attend the 2008 meet up because i hadn't been on this site for almost a year and didnt know about it but if i had known that there was one I would have been there no matter what or where it was...I did read some of the post from the plannig of the 2008 meet and didnt really see anything one complain about the state that won...I also read that every year they would go from cost to cost so that way everyone would
have a chance to attend and almost or all agreed that this was a good idea...So im just not understang what the problem is with this poll...Im sorry if i have offened anyone those are not my intensions at all, im just trying to understand why people are complaining or better yet saying that if Cali. wins they will not attend...:confused:...This is suppose to be fun...but having to

people that will and wish them a happy and safe trip not complain on how
your not going to make it cuz the state that won is to far,the air fair is too much or the drive is to long...You'll have your turn and when your turn comes around im sure other people will not be able to attend because its too far, the
drive is long ect. but im sure that they will wish you all the fun and ask for pics and all that good stuff...Just be happy that we have nice people who
are willing to give up there time there family time to plane this for EVERYONE ELSE to enjoy....JMO....

Do they actually measure the carriers at the airport??? A lot of the ones I'm finding that I think Bernie would fit in are larger than the size listed.

Hey I'm coming from Ohio and trust me I'll find a way to get there. I have already started a YT San Diego fund (like a Christmas Club) and I'm going to put X amount of dollars away a week.

I'll be excited and going no matter what city but I have never been to San Diego and everyone I know that has been there says its fantastic and so much fun. :D:D:D

No they don't from my experience - I was concerned about this the 1st time I flew too - lol. Also, they did not weigh my carrier.

But the biggest thing to be concerned about, is that the carrier fits under the seat. I even searched online and found a site that listed measurements for about everything on the smallest plane I would be on.

Because my understanding is that if the bag doesn't fit under the seat, the bag, dogs and all have to go with the flight attendant to some bigger spot :eek:

I spent countless hrs looking at bags in person and online :rolleyes: In the long run, I bought a roomy bag I found on clearance at Petco - not my favorite color, but roomy and very functional - because I decided that I had enough pretty purses for the babies and this carrier would only be for airline travel.

The biggest concern is whether the carrier will fit under the seat. Each airline has a slightly different height underneath their seats. Some can fit only 10", where some can fit 12". If you request a middle seat there is definitely more room under the seat width wise as well!!!!

I had a hell of a time finding a carrier that was within the dimensions listed by US Air. In the end, I went with one that was the same length, but 1 inch taller than they allowed (and I kept my fingers crossed!). Not only did they not check, but there was room if it had been another 2 inches taller.

This is what I'm most concerned about. Wonder why the 9" height restriction when there is more room?

I believe when I was looking for an "Airline approved" carrier, the dimensions under the seats were listed on the airline website........
