| ![]() Well, let start with Lil Ol Tuffy. She was in fact a God sent. My baby sister had died in April 1992 leaving me with such a void in my heart. A friend of mine knew how lost I was because of my sister's death and I just wasn't snapping out of my depression. She knew this women who Showed Champion Yorkies and she would tell her about me and what I was going through. Mary called one day because she had an idea. Her Yorkie had given birth to 5 puppies. Four of them had all the points to become Grand Champions just like the mother and father. This particular one didn't quite make the show standard she required. Karen called to see if I was at home because she and Mary wanted to stop by for a visit. Little did I know, this would change my life forever. When I opened the door, here they both stood with this little tiny baby in her arms. They came in and Mary handed me all her papers and registrations and told me the only thing I ask of you, please don't ever breed her. I gave her my word this would never happen. She didn't sell Yorkies but her and her daughter only wanted to produce one litter. They kept the rest of the litter for their own personal show dogs. I thought I had won the biggest prize in the whole world. Lil Ol Tuffy change me forever. I have a picture of her hanging over my desk that was painted for me. One very Beautiful baby. I would always take her back to Michigan to visit my son and on one trip at Detroit Airport. Tuffy and I were sitting waiting for a flight and this women came up and ask me if she was a show dog. I told her the story and she starting checking her out. She in fact was judge and told me, she never saw a yorkie with such beautiful color or structure. I knew she was beautiful in my eyes but she was really amazed. Tuffy would just prance through the airport and if it was her own territory. What a Blessing.... Cost!! Priceless Love!! Unlimited God's Gift from Heaven sent to me by Mary. |

| ![]() I was VERY fortunate. I received Toby for less than $100 and he was listed on Craigslist as neutered and microchipped. I know...................you have to be careful with buying dogs on CL and I was VERY HESITANT since he was so cheap and assumed the worst. The lady was taking applications for a week and then would make a decision. I had to fill out a 4 page adoption application. The lady actually called my groomer, vet and three references. That made me feel better about the person who had Toby. I kept emailing her all week. I had to convince her that I was her best choice. In the end, I was. She told me that on a Friday. The next day I had to drive an hour to go visit him to see if he was what I wanted. The closer I got, the more scared I was about this being a time waster because he was so cheap. When I got there I was very impressed. She lived in a nice, big log cabin that was very clean and didn't smell like dogs. She owns three other yorkies, was fostering Toby, had goats, cats, etc. The only dog I saw when I walked in was Toby and I thought surely that wasn't the one she was selling because he was too perfect. But it was. We visited for a good 45 minutes, she had the scanner to scan his microchip so I would have his number and had more papers for me to fill out and sign. So I knew then this was no scam. She'd had Toby for a year and he was very special to her. I did ask her why she was selling him so cheap (he's a purbred according to a few YT'ers that have seen his pic). Her response was that she wasn't looking to make money off the dog, she just wanted to make sure he went to a good, loving home. She also has three tiny yorkies of her own. She grooms them in her home too. I send her pictures and progress updates weekly and she really enjoys them. So I think I got a good deal on a purebred yorkie! And every day I can't wait to get home from work to watch him be all happy that I'm there. I've always wanted a yorkie but never had an extra couple of thousand laying around the house to spend on a dog. So I was one of the fortunate ones that didn't get ripped off on CL. I finally have the lap dog I've been wanting!!!! You know the old saying........good things come to those who wait. And it's true!

| ![]() But since getting him home last January I have probably spent another $1000.00 with vets, finding food he likes, beds of which he has 4, clothing and toys, different harnesses and leads etc etc, but I would pay it all again for my beautiful boy. ![]()

| ![]() Our first one, Kizzie, I bought from a wonderful breeder who had a nice set up in her home. Kizzie was 1200.00 and that was 4 years ago. She is 3.5 pounds I got Pennie from a local in home/hobby breeder with only a couple of adult dogs for $1100.00.. Unfortunately she had a bad case of giardia, and skin mights and was sick for 5 weeks. I had to force feed her and she lost a lot of hair. She was 8 weeks and 1.7 pounds when we brought her home. The didn't find the giardia for a few weeks, (it hides) and in the mean time we spent a lot of the time at the vet and with all the other tests they did on her I slpent neat 1 grand on that. I got Gracie from a different breeder a few hours from here, she was 7 months old and so friendly, all her dogs were. We only paid 700.00 for her because she had floppy ears and a very slight overbite, which has now corrected itself. We almost bought her sister too who was 1200.00 but decided to wait. We got Mindy from my husbands co-worker who could take care of her. She is 9 pounds. And a pretty good dog, very attached to me. She could be a mix. she came with her hair cut really short. Now that it is growing out she has a pretty curly coat (not tight) But that could straighten out as it gets longer. Her back is more straight. She is every bit terrier that is for sure ![]() I have other dogs, all were purchased from breeders. |
