Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Constantly gaining weight? Eddie, my little butterball turkey, has gained a full pound over the winter. He's now up to 11 pounds and as of today is back on a diet along with dad. Of course, I do everything wrong. I free feed, and while I monitor his portions each day, he often gobbles up Jack's food when I'm not looking. Plus when we're in obedience school, he gets extra treats. For curiousity's sake, I'm doing a poll to see how many of your Yorkies constantly gain weight.

| I vote Yes, but CoCo's weight used to change a lot. She now seems to have settled to being "a little chubby". Coffee is a big boy, but not fat, although he was a fatty when I got him. Sheilagh

| Winston seems to gain an ounce or two every time he goes to the vets...the pounds are really creeping on. We'll be out walking more now that the weather is better...I really don't want another fat yorkie...I want a healthy yorkie. But he must eat at least 3 times a day to keep his blood sugar up...or he has seizures. What's a mom to do???

| i put that Layla's weight doesn't change... but i'm not sure that is true.. it's hard to tell... she is 6 lbs or maybe more and i'd say she has just hit her adult weight (she just turned 2) so theoretically she has gained weight since we got her but i think if she were to gain anymore she would be overweight. however in the summer she tends to loose weight because we walk a lot... whereas in the winter, our weather is so bad we dont' walk at all. |

| My Zada steadly gained weight and the Vet. took some blood test that showed she had a hyperthyroidism and was put on medication. She gets fed 1/4 cup of food twice a day and only has treats a couple times a week. I also put her on the treadmill every day since I stopped walking them by myself. |

No Longer a Member | Chloe spent so much time being underweight, and now, she has really put on some girth. I just measured her yesterday for a new dress. Her chest had always been at 12.5 or so, and now, she's 14"!!!! |

| Most of mine remain stable in the weight department, except Penelope. She has had five litters and she is going on 7 years old. She was spayed this past fall and seemed to put on weight overnight. I have her on special diet food ( recommended by my vet) and she goes on daily walks, but she has yet to lose any. I hoping that this summer she will become more active and hopefully she ( and I ) will lose it together! |

| Baxter's weight will go up if I'm not diligent with his food portions. He just has to look at it and the weight will pile on. And he'll eat Snickers food if I don't watch him. Right now he's around 12 lbs, which is a good weight for him. Snickers self-regulates his food, so his weight stays the same, around 9 lbs.
