This thread is great, I love everyone's photos... hopefully I can learn stuff and DH will help me upgrade to a new camera, hehe.

You do a great job with your photography, Glad you joined us!
It is the ONLY thread I go to any more. I just love it
I did some Photography the other day of G-man and the mirror, can't wait to post it BUT need the other computer.
I just had puppies yesterday afternoon and need to get caught up on sleep

Kathy, your pictures are awesome!! If you want a new camera i think you deserve one!!!! You obviously love photography!! It shows!!

This truly is my most favorite thread on YT these days....other than the picture threads of all the babies on here of course!!

Here is a shot of Brooklyn that i took...she sat in that pose looking out the window for the longest time!! Not quite sure what she was looking at, but i liked the way her pretty little profile looked! Then after looking at the picture on my laptop i noticed her reflection in the window!! Hope it shows when i upload it!!

Brooklyn is too cute and totally fixed on something. It always amazes me when you look deeper in a pic what you can find

That's a cool photo... she is so intent on something! And her reflection is great!

Ha! I have black appliances... my cats are always sitting in front of the oven or dishwasher just staring at it, even when they're turned off! Looks really stupid of them.... but I just checked and from their level... they can see the reflection from out of the window! I didn't think my cats were that dumb!

Loving all the new shots! I really like the pier. The grays are eerie and make you feel like you're right there.

Just for fun, I played around with it in photoshop to see what it would look like with a wider range of tones. I'm no expert and I'm not sure I like my worked version any better, but it's fun to play around and see what you can come up with.

First version is photoshopped, second version is original. And I just added a third -- getting rid of the blue tone my worked version picked up.

Ask around among friends to see if anyone has any experience. I got lucky. I work at a newspaper, and we have a lot of photoshop experts. One of the people in our color lab gave me about a 30-minute lesson -- not nearly enough to understand everything it does but just enough to get me started.

Really?? You work at a newspaper?? So do I!!

I work in accounting now, worked in advertising as Preprint coordinator for a couple of years. We are all the last of a breed aren't we?

LOL, definitely on that last part!

I work in editorial, but my wife worked as a preprint coordinator for years.

I imagine they'd be easier than the book.

The hard part is deciding what you NEED to know. Photoshop is so powerful, and if you start learning something too complicated, it might get frustrating.

The person who helped me started with the section on "curves." You can set highlights, blacks, midtones easily.

And, rentfrog, we're owned by McClatchy-Tribune.
