| I agree. I had a good point and shoot digital camera, but lost soooooo many shots because of shutter lag. That's what finally convinced me to invest in a good DSLR. What kind of camera are you using now? Good luck!

| All point and shoot cameras have shutter lag. The only way to get around it is to prefocus on what you are going to take a picture of. Press the shutter half-way on what you are going to take a picture of to focus, and when you see what you want, press the shutter. Otherwise, a dsl is the only kind of camera without shutter lag.

There will always be shutter lag, no matter what camera you have. Here is a thread about shutter lag: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pho...-lag-time.html And here is an article/chart about lag time too: Different Shutter Lags for Different Cameras I know exactly what you mean, I think dogs are really tough to get pics of. The real key is first deciding beforehand what your goal is - ie, portrait pics or action pics? If portrait, then you can try using wider apertures (for background blur etc) and everything - but keep treats near you - hold your camera in your dominant hand - and hold treat in other hand, up near the camera - to bring dog's attention up near the lens - AND to get their ears in the best "perky" position (due to treat presence). The presence of a treat can help w/ avoiding those back-of-head pics - but still - it's tough to hold their attention, I know. Out of 20-30 shots, I have 1 okay one, if lucky. If action pics - then you usually use much different settings (faster settings). Are you wanting to stay in point-and-shoot, or DSLR?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I was so tired of "missing" shots due to shutter lag or poor quality indoor pictures. This is the camera I got. Canon Rebel T1i. It is wonderful.
