| My Rebel XSi just arrived! My bf bought me a Canon Rebel XSi for my birthday and I received it today!! but I am so confused just reading the manual! I really do think I am technically challanged Did it take you all awhile to get use to your cameras? I may have a month of reading about how to use it before I can actually take a decent pic! Wish me luck

| Darlene, I'm so so jealous! Congratulations on the new camera - I can't wait to see some pics! Oh wait! Bailey is already so darned cute I can't stand it...and now you have a new camera....ugh, it's gonna be torture! I was lucky enough to find some photography classes coming up locally in a few weeks. Otherwise, I'd probably be leaving it set on auto for the first year or so.

| Now I am jealous because I NEED photography classes and there is nothing like that offered in my area I hope I can take pics half as nice as the ones that everyone has posted with their DSLRs!

And HECK YEAH ! I'm *still* learning about mine, these DSLRs have to much to offer. The nice thing though is that you can make them be anything from totally manual to totally automatic, and anything in between. I know though...at first, it's overwhelming...I'd pick it up, then go "OMG", put it down, pick up the manual, go "OMG", put it down. LOL. Just start small .

| Congrats Darlene!! You'll have the hang of it in no time. Start on Auto, and when you get more comfortable with it, play around with the settings and see what you get! If the manual overwhelms you right now, don't worry, as you use the camera, it will get easier to get through the book. But if you only read one thing in the manual, read and learn how to set the camera back to "factory" settings (master reset). If the camera ever gets out of wack or you can't figure out what might have changed, this is the one solution you always want to know. These DSLR's are a challenge at first even to those who are used to shooting regular SLR Film cameras, because of all the menus and settings etc. So you are not alone! It gets easier! Oh yeah, and can't wait to see some Bailey pictures!!!

| the BEST money i ever spent was to get the For Dummies book for the version of your camera- I am always going back and referencing mine- i threw the manual out- what a joke- i couldn't understand a word! Just pick it up and play with it- that's the best advice i can give you- aside from getting the book! |
