| It is kinda like dog food....we all have our favorites, the ones we swear by, and while there may be a couple of top contenders, Blue Bell is King down here! Now HEB has their house brand and they ran taste tests and it was written up in all the news papers and on TV down here, that it was practically identical in taste to Blue Bell Homade Vanilla..... I bought both and when my brother came we did a blind taste test.....HE had no problem selecting the Blue Bell...thicker, richer, creamier just by a smidgen....I could hardly tell the difference between the two, and if I had not know it was a blind comparison taste test, I probably would not have even known it wasnt Blue Bell! |

| I guess it's that I'm not an ice cream person. Not really into sweets at all actually. I found the Blue Bell we got was very dense and hard, if that makes sense. Actually we just got Blue Bell here in Vegas last year and everyone was so excited. That's why we tried some. Meh.

| The fact that they have known it was in their Oklahoma plant for two years is what makes me not want to buy it again.

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Does anyone know of a national brand that tastes like Blue Bell homemade vanilla? My boys come for weekly dinner and were disappointed with the Dreyers I bought. I think they'd eat BB even if they thought it was contaminated with listeria!

| And GM knew about its ignition switch problem for at least 10 years and an AP article I read said that GM will be compensating 97 families for death of a family member & 179 for family member injuries over those years with millions of cars affected. Then I think about the corporations like those in coal mining who wouldn't spend the $ to keep their mines safe as possible while thousands of men - fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, etc., died horribly, some hopelessly trapped in the dark for hours, knowing no one could get to them in time. Those men died in those mines to produce a product that was sold for profit to people to heat their homes and businesses. Are those corporations' indifferences any better than Blue Bell's? Lots of corporate misdeeds in producing a product for sale in our history books and news cycles to make you realize boycotting a single company might punish them but lets a lot of others off the hook altogether.

| YT 1000 Club Member | I know you're looking for an ice cream brand, but have you ever had the Talenti Gelato? The ingredient list is very limited and most of the flavors are vegetarian friendly(if that's your thing ). I used to swear by Bluebell's Homemade Vanilla until I tried Talenti. Also their Butter Pecan and Sea Salt Caramel flavors are to die for. They're in small containers(pint), but a little goes a long way. I'm in Central Texas and they carry it at Kmart, Wal Mart, and our commissary. My family in Tennessee say they have it there as well. I'm sure you'll be able to find it in your neck of the woods if you'd like to try it. |

| Eh, I'll probably eventually go back to Blue Bell because there is no suitable replacement. But I'm not buying them for a while, for sure.

I'm going to try that Talenti Gelato Diedra recommends to see if it will see me through. I was so ready to get some Blue Bell Butter Pecan after my sister bought it until I heard about the listeria. Now I want to try Talenti's Butter Pecan or that Sea Salt Caramel.

| Kroger carries Talenti gelato. They also carry pints of Graeter's, but it's really expensive. I think about $5 or $6 for a pint, but it's delish. Graeter's Handcrafted Ice Cream

| Since I can't get Blue Bell, I am now getting the Braums Ice Cream and it seems pretty good. Thank heavens I have a Braums just right up the road. LOL

Yeah, I've not been for years but they always had nice ice cream, sherbet, frozen yogurt and diabetic options! Lots of different flavors and accessories, too! I don't know how much has changed but I have good memories..lol | |

| I so wish they sold Blue Bell up here! I love the stuff and now I find my ice cream I either by Cold Stone or Haagen Daz from their stores because everything else tastes nasty. I'm a natural vanilla bean kinda lady and the Breyers used to be just as tasty but I don't like that either anymore. It's sad that there were cases of death but I agree that because we live in a situation where most of our food is now massed produced we run the risk of having some issue. This is a rare unfortunate instance where QA testing failed but if I were able to get me a 1/2 gallon I'd surely have me some.
