| Thanksgiving 2014 Happy belated Thanksgiving to our friends in Canada! For fellow Americans, the season is now upon us and I am panicking about what to make again this year! I always want to be traditional but edgy but I usually only take risks on the starters or desserts rather than the main meal. For example, last year, I served caviar as a starter and crab dip and red velvet cake for dessert and a cranberry martini to lighten up the mood (mother in law and all that..). It doesn't sound too crazy, I know, but the attendees are English, not American, and they do not value spice in the same way that I do! This year, I'm considering a bourbon punch and a pumpkin spice latte to kick things off. I was wondering though, do you tend to stick with tradition, rebel a little or just do your own thing entirely for Thanksgiving i.e. forego the turkey in its entirety, for example? I need some inspiration!!! |

| I am not a big fan of turkey, hate the smell when it's cooking, hate the taste, When my son was small I did it for him, the "traditional way" when he was a young adult tradition went out the window lol. I make lasagna, (I'm Italian) so if you're coming to my house for thanksgiving that's what you'll be getting. And of course the traditional pumpkin pie.I have no in-laws I have to cater to lol. (lucky me lol)

Everyone is invited! The more Americans the better! Your menu sounds similar to the one I do each year because I like tradition and I know others rely on it... so..maybe I'm doing okay. Maybe I just need more alcohol..lol | |
