I couldn't help but think of this thread the other day....I was coming out of Walmart and could smell the overwhelming odor of old deep fryer grease filling the air ...I immediately thought the fair was in town!.......

Every June the fair comes into town and sets up down the road ....That old grease smell fills the air from the fried funnel cakes, corn dogs, fries, chicken,pickles, dough balls, Oreo's, and I think there might even be fried sneakers there.....Can't wait for summer, better get out my pajama jeans!

Oh yes!!!

That deep fried greasy smell with a hint of slimy dark brown onions....

Melon takes me to Acapulco where any time we visited, we were served melon with whatever kind of breakfast or lunch ordered. Fried shrimp always takes me to childhood vacations to Galveston Island. Hot cocoa with mini-marshmallows and cinnamon and a tot of brandy, I'm at any ski resort I've ever been to. BBQ, even though I live in Texas, takes me to Red River, New Mexico. Beef jerky of a horseback trail-ride around the mountains of Purgatory, Colorado. Those are just some of the food-vacation memories that jump to mind.

Corn Beef and cabbage.....

I'm cooking some right this minute and it smells awesome....!! Having my sister, my neice and friend over for dinner since my family will not eat it. They have no idea what they are missing...Their loss..

I love corned beef but DH won't even try it
