Wild Mushrooms Anyone? I love love love mushrooms. I love them so much, in fact, that I have, in the past, bought kits to grow them in my basement!! I also go to my DB's house to pick FRESH MORELS  What is your favorite mushroom? Are you a white mushroom lover? canned (:hide2:)? Oyster? Portobello? I happen to love them all :D:D:D |
I love them any way....fresh raw, canned, grilled, sauteed ...never had wild mushrooms as I wouldn't know which were safe. My favorite is portobello |
Me too! I love them ALL! I had wild ones for the first time a few years ago and loved them too. I wouldn't trust myself to go out mushroom hunting though. My luck, I'd pick the wrong ones. |
You can purchase a wild mushroom mix in the grocery store. I only pick morels cuz they are very distinctive and my DB knows much more about mushrooms than I do! I would never go on my own mushroom picking......unless I was still unhappily married :hmmm33:......:kiss2wm::scratchhe:nursing: :cf57:
:sidesplt: hmmmm I may need to go mushroom picking...DH loves mushrooms:D |

I haven't had morels in ages! I remembered they were really good. Also chanterelles. I also love enoki mushrooms. I kind of like portabellos, not love. Same with shiitake, I guess too "meaty" I like more delicate mushrooms. Also I have not had the opportunity to have real truffles, I did have mac and cheese with truffle shavings, and I did not care for it one bit. I hear great things about matsutake (sp?) mushrooms, supposedly really expensive mushrooms from Japan. I don't care for white button mushrooms, esp raw. On a pizza they are ok, I won't pick them off if they are there (like I do with green bell peppers) but I won't specifically ask for them. I had pickles oyster mushrooms, they were ok. Lobster mushrooms got my hopes up, they taste nothing like lobster. LOL |

Do you like criminis? They are "just" baby bellas but the flavor is less meaty. |
I have never had real truffles either. And lobster mushrooms? Never seen them! What do you think of my theory that if you love mushrooms you will love escargot?? The texture is exact! |

How about wood ear fungus? A staple in chinese cooking, if you've had hot and sour soup you've had it. It's the black thin looking ribbon thing. |

The escargot is like the.....hmmmm.....black capped mushroom thingy. Looks like an enoki kinda....but black :D Its a bigger headed mushroom (still long in the head ;) ) |

"Do you like cannabis?" Bwahahahah:lol tears I even checked the browser URL to make sure I was, indeed, on YT. On the actual topic though, I've never eaten wild mushrooms. I have bought somethign at the asian grocery store that was growing mushrooms in a little pallet of dirt-looking stuff. That lasted a while and was pretty awesome |
