Slice of buttered toast, grape jam and hot tea with milk and sugar for breakfast. Nothing like tea and toast - made for each other.

Now listen up and eat your heart out food lovers! Today is my cooking for my family for the 5 days I am away.

We already have 4cheese lasagna in freezer and meatloaf. Today is Russian Borscht soup beef brisket and eggplant parmesan! Of course a full grocery was done so there are fresh veges n fruit and of course lots of good bread too! I forecast all the bread will be gone - and all the fruit and I will come back to limp fresh veges!

Getting ready for the loooonnnngggg trip to Missouri - Economy of packing cooler - but I insist on not being out of my condiments to cook with. To start our trip off we can have either beef brisket sandwhiches or tuna salad sandwhiches with either French stick or Cape seed delish buns. Coleslaw and of course Romaine lettuce. When we arrive late Friday night either beet soup or lasagna with a salad. Then I do some quick groceries Saturday. And we will have BBQ turkey breast and corn on the cob with a salad Sunday a yummy steak baked potatoes and grilled mushrooms peppers and onions. Monday Lasagna and a salad. Tues is annual dinner and Wed we return.

Now, Gail, you know you cannot possibly manage all that food packing, preparation, serving and cleaning up all by yourself while you are traveling. as amazing and talented as you are in these matters. Sooo, set your heart at ease - little Tibbe and I will be there in a day or two, to help with all the absolutely mouthwatering foodstuffs and goodies you're planning to serve on the trip! Mmmmm - mmmm! Your menu has my stomach standing up, saluting and high-stepping smartly in circles-of-eight in anticipation!!! No, no thanks needed at all - we're just happy to tag along to help out. We doglovers must stick together and help one another out whenever we can. See you when we get there!!! :):):);)

Now you go right ahead - you come up and over or over n up - and meet us in Gray Summitt Missouri. Tibbe will be our honorary Yorkie Mascot for our Blackie group as Razzman is staying home with Dave this trip. Tibbes duties is to be the quintessical (sp?) Yorkie - and sass and love on everyone. He can go ringside with you and watch the Blackies compete in the ring - I will even loan him or you my chair to sit n watch.

Tibbe can cheer Dara on in the obedience ring and cover his eyes if we goof it up! Pssst can you cover your eyes too?

In terms of the food prep - sure darling take over. My portable BBQ is there we have a picnic area at our motel and an outdoor pool too :-) Now we expect cold ice cold Margaritas by the pool - when you are slaving over dat BBQ lol lol.

WE have it easy with 3 0clock ring times 3 days and the 4th day is also an easy 11am. Of course \Monday Dara after obedience needs a full show wash n blow dry with judicious scissoring - and Tues we probably arrive for the 11am confirmation rings by latest 9am where she will be blown dried out again and touch up scissoring done.

Great - getting a few things together for both of us and heading for the airport ASAP.

Oh, wait, I have a doctor's appt. and Tibbe a vet's appt. tomorrow! Meh - guess I spoke w/out thinking, Ms. Gail. We'd gladly do the cooking/cleaning/dog grooming - years of poodle grooming/scissoring experience - work just to get to enjoy the company, the dogs and the food! :) Wish we could horn in and join up with your trip - if only - haha. Enjoy and win big!

My friend if I ever become rich as Croesus - I will drive all da way down to Texas to meet you n Tibbe. We can go swimming picnic near a beach? or lake - gawd I know nothing about Texas lol - but it would be enough to meet you n Tibbs.

Could you magic me your experienced scissoring hands - cause I am a total klutz at it.

And to make life just a tad more challenging - Magic n Dara got into our organics last night - I have been treated to sick ups all day. Yuck. Finally their stomachs have settled. They have of course not gone far from the kitchen where all the food smells are. Dara is right now lying on my feet waiting for some more attention. We will feed a bland dinner tonight - I almost always have boiled chicken - rice - and pumpkin on hand. Of course with all the beefy smells going on - while they won't ever turn up their nose at food - I can imagine their looks. MOMS where is THE Beef!!

Ice cream bar

Lilah Charm 09-08-2015 04:32 PM

Ugh. Cheeseburgers of shame- not the amazing, worth it kind, the not so good kind that take up your entire allotment of calories for the day and aren't even really that good or filling- which is how you ate that many. Groan. I am going to lay here and lament in my slip up of cholesterol care along with my tummy ache. Green face.

Harrysmum 09-13-2015 08:16 AM

:D Ohhhh...I love you all SO MUCH!!! :D

Sorry I've been quiet - more 'home disasters' yuck (due to the Contractors taking down the asbestos-y kitchen and bathroom ceilings...yucky mucky woo...!!!)

But tonight we're about to have roast pork shoulder with honey + rosemary + a squirt of lemon...roast garlic potatoes...cauli cheese (VERY cheesy ;))...sautéed leeks in butter with peas + some sweetcorn...plus 'our gravy'....xxx

Just got a torta ahogada from this amazing placed El Chivito in NW San Antonio. I always get the hottest one and it turns my mouth red it's so blazing hot, but it's such a delicious sandwich: pork carnitas, pickled red onions, refried beans stuffed in a birrote roll and then topped with mild, very hot, or extremely hot salsa. The owner was joking that I had to sign a waiver to get the hottest version of the sandwich lol. It's such an awesome sandwich since the bread is crunchy on the outside so doesn't turn soggy with the salsa but is chewy on the inside, so can absorb a lot of the salsa when you pour it in the sandwich. The pic I posted is of the mild one with tomato salsa though, I always get the one with pure arbol salsa.

It's funny, Cookie always tries to jump up and kiss me right after I eat something, like she wants to taste my meal, but she saw how red my mouth was after eating this sandwich and wisely decided not to. lol

Today homemade falafels. So yummy with all the trimmings. And I have been hacked or something. Bringing puter in tomorrow to my puter guy to fix it up (I hope)

I don't like to cook but I like to eat healthy, so I have no choice but to cook at home even if I dread it. For tonight's dinner I had some rice with chicken and vegetables and an avocado, with a homemade watermelon juice :)

Lilah Charm 10-09-2015 06:36 PM

Pancakes with bacon and eggs for breakfast, made a delicious mashed potatoe coated Shepards pie and home made chicken soup for lunch/dinner and then ate salty, saucy pizza rolls and popcorn watching Barbie movies with my kids

Harrysmum 10-12-2015 11:11 AM

Camembert baked in the box in the oven...sprigged with rosemary + garlic...and loads of 'unusual rustic' breads for dipping...:D xxx

Lilah Charm 10-15-2015 07:35 PM

Chicken parmigiana Giuseppe...a chicken breast baked in a rich garlicky cheesy cream sauce with a side of spaghetti, a thick length of toasted garlic bread accompanied by a crunchy salad with croutons and bleu cheese, an antipasto plate with pepporicinis, mozerella and thin slices of Italian meats and a really fabulous glass of Pinot noir- no room for dessert!

So I was really in the mood for an English breakfast (scrambled eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, a couple of slices of ham, a couple of slices of toast, and some baked beans) for dinner, and earlier in the day youtube recommended this video to me of Gordon Ramsay showing how to make perfect scrambled eggs. OMG, they came out about 100x better than when I make them the way I used to.

It makes me feel kind of bad that I never knew how to make them this good, considering in college I had a job for a couple of years where I'd make breakfast for a couple hundred people a couple of hours a day before I had to go to class. And my eggs were nowhere near as good as they are in this simple recipe.

Harrysmum 10-18-2015 08:41 AM

:) Roast chicken - with pork, lemon and garlic stuffing...garlicky roast potatoes...carrots, sweetcorn + peas with herb butter...'our' gravy (with a teaspoon of mint sauce in, yum!!!) :D Very, very full up....:D xxx

I like scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs and I use bacon half the time, ham half the time (I can't not have some form of dead hog in my refrigerator at all times). I always skip the pudding but you gotta have the baked beans cooked with some ancho chile powder.

We are having grilled steak, baked potato, fresh snap beans, fresh turnips, green salad with a Walden Farms raspberry dressing that has ZERO calories, fat free, sugar free, carbohydrate free, gluten free, cholesterol free....this stuff tastes so good you could actually drink it from the bottle if you wanted! For dessert, fresh fruit compote over a (too small!!) slice of pound cake, topped with a dollop of whipped cream.
