I'd go to the YTCA.org website, they have a breeder's directory and there several breeders in WA. Through that website you can access the Washington Yorkshire Terrier Club, they have a breeder referral # that you can contact....

| The best choice is YTCA.org since most of show responsible breeders belong to a club. Please, just be careful when you are looking for a yorkie pup in WA area. Unfortunately, many back yard breeders around. I used to communicate with show breeders from YTCA, and they told me that most of them from Olympic Penincula, Snohomish. Also, there are a puppy mills in Snohomish, Tacoma, Sultan, Arlington, Maryswille, etc. Before you chose a breeder please do your homework what responsible breeder is. Just google "back yard breeder vs responsible breeder" Below a few tips: - a good breeder will not sell yorkie earlier that 10 weeks. Run from a breeder who sell a pup at age less that 8 weeks - you MUST see at least one parent. If a breeder doesn't show them, this is big RED FLAG (puppy mill?) - you MUST receive a guarantee. And WITHOUT frase "no money back, only replacement a puppy". Too many sad stories when BYB sell sick puppies and no one pay a vet bills, even if pup died. Just think - do you really want to replace for another defective puppy from a BYB? - PLEASE READ STANDARD. When I was looking for a pup, I was told that yorkie standard is 10-12 pounds. Well, not only idiots around, how she probably thought . There are a few quality of yorkies, and some breeders charge way too much money for a POOR BREED pup (fluffy coat, disproportional body, oversize, etc) - NO such a thing as tea cup or whatever. Those word people love to use as marketing word. There is ONLY one standard: not exceed 7 pounds ! Period. RUN from a breeder who breed too tiny yorkies less that 3 pounds. To review a references on particular breeder, go to http://seattle.citysearch.com/review/37537077 good luck |

| Omichka, It sounds like you got burned by a breeder. I hope you have healthy dogs now. Yes, you are correct. You must do your homework, get references and be very very careful. Carolyn Yorkshire Terriers of Calaryn

| Actually, I am very happy with my girl . But I am just against supporting puppy mills NO matter if pup is healthy or not. I am very against BYB. We have ENOUGH yorkies on the street who look far away from stardard BEAUTIFUL yorkies. Plus, I hate when sellers lie to me. I overpaid for my girl twice seems like. |

| YTCA is the best place to start looking. The breeder mentioned on the first page of this post is Dorren Hubbard. She is listed in the officers "YTCA Officers" tab: http://ytca.org/ My wife and I have one of her babies. Molly is now a senior citizen. I also have MeToo who is from Rebecca Rmasey who is the secretary of the Mt Rainier club. A good breeder is not breeding for money and they also will not let puppies go that are younger that 12 weeks. Both of our girls are "pet quality". Dorren, Becky and other breeders that show will not sell a show quality pup and will definetely not sell a show quality pup to someone who will not show their line! We got Molly at 14 weeks and did not get MeToo until she was 3 months old. MeToo is our 5th Yorkie. |

| Agree, I didn't buy a yorkie from her, just that puppy was sold too fast. But she has a great INTERNATIONAL reputation. Personally, I communicate with one of her partner and strongly recommend her. She does breed for quality, not money. Her name is Patty and now she lives in Mount Vernon. Very responsible and honest lady . Kirk is a good breeder. Nancy from Tacoma is good, but she is more like factory .... PS: Molly looks familiar to me. Just wondering is it the same puppy I was planning to buy.... If she was on sale in april/may 2004 that is she...-)))))))))) Last edited by omichka; 07-26-2007 at 03:39 PM. |

Yorkie Talker | Yorkie Size The actual Yorkshire Terrier size was anywhere from 12-16 lbs. when they were originally bred. Unfortunately, when brought to America, women demanded smaller and smaller dogs and that has brought us to this sad situation of puppy mill breeders selling tiny, unhealthy dogs. Please be extremely careful not to encourage this practice. Humans should be responsible and think about an animal's quality of life over having the tiniest-looking dog. Reputable breeders should not have yorkie moms that are less than 5 lbs. I love yorkies, but I'm sickened by this trend and hope people will consider bigger yorkies. My current yorkie is 12 lbs. and people constantly ask me where they can get a bigger yorkie that they can actually take out on hikes and not be afraid of stepping on. Just a little something to think about. |

Also, Carolyn Arnold in Gig Harbor is awesome (as stated above) but she isn't breeding her traditional yorkies yet. Hers aren't quite old enough, I think. But she has some beautiful Biewers! deb Last edited by Joeysmom; 04-18-2009 at 05:49 PM. Reason: more info | |
