| Sorry you're having problems with your dog and the squirrels, Windsor chased one once when he was little but it turned around and chased back and he doesn't mess with them anymore. He has caught and killed mice though. But back to the squirrels, becareful having them in your attic/roof, they can chew through your electrical wires and cause lots of problems.

I can just see Cheri having a little conversation with the squirrels But I can't however see her ever trying to hurt or kill one...she probably just loves the company and their fun little conversations that they have together I bet she gets the biggest kick out of that! My Pippi loves to sit and watch them run across the fence - she doesn't bother them at all. I really don't know if Peaches is just trying to "play" with them like you said, and maybe she just goes too far The only time I have ever seen her get "MEAN" is when Pippi was trying to steal her food (which is when she bit her) or when someone she doesn't know just enters the backyard without warning (such as the meter reader) She DOES get very aggressive when it comes to her food...and her territory. She is a very playful dog so maybe she really DOESN'T realise what she's doing. I just hate the fact that the poor little things have to die They are so darn cute!

Stedman would SO run...lol he is a big wuss Come to think of it, we have found several dead birds in our yard over the years, so I'm sure that Peaches is killing those too. I just don't know how she gets these things! The chewing through wires is one of the MAIN reasons we wanted to get them out of our attic in the first place (other than the fact of annoyance because of all the "scattering" they do up there at night which keeps us awake). We ARE going to get those Moth Balls!

| I've seen my little Emma eyeing the squirrels in our yard as well. She stalks them and sometimes I do wonder if she caught one what she would do. We had a bunny when we first got her, and she absolutely stalked it to DEATH from 7 weeks old and up. You could tell she did *not* want to play with it. Luckily my little sister had a bunny that needed a playmate and my family took the little guy in. I visit him all the time <3.. I just could not give him the freedom he needed because she'd just go absolutely nuts.. and it's so weird because she's SO sweet, loves all dogs and people.. but get a small animal in front of her and she wants to go get it! I don't know if it has something to do w/her being a jack russell and yorkie? Hmmm, anyhow! I hope that Peaches stops killing the little squirrelies! I don't think it has anything to do with her being mean.. I just think it's a natural thing. Maybe you could find some advice online on ways to distract her from them.. Good luck girl! |
