I Love Thor Donating Member | Does your Yorkie have a Malteese brother or sister? Could you guys post pics of your malteese. How big do they get? I would love to see full grown pics, as well as baby picks? Are they bigger than yorkies? |

| My yorkie has a maltese sister. Her name is Dazzel and she is just barely 5lbs. She is 11mos. old now. I just shaved her so excuse the weird hair cut. That is my daughter in the pictures too. She wants to show dogs! she's only 5 1/2! She loves dogs! |

| The difference in a yorkie and maltese personalities in my experenice is: my yorkie is very hyper type and the maltese is very laid back. You have to rember that the yorkie is a terrier it was bred for the purpose of exterminating vermin in the mines in Yorkshire England. The maltese has spaniels in it's ancestory. It was bred in Malta for the purpose of being a companion dog for royalty. My maltese can play hard with the best of them don't get me wrong. But for the most part she is content to lay on my lap while I throw the ball for the yorkie to run wildly through the house. |

| I have 6 yorkies and one maltese! LOL I had a pomeranian for 16 years before she passed years ago. My husband and I met when she was still alive but older and she HATED my husband! And my hubby didn't like her too much either.... hmmm. But my Minnie was a real nasty dog to people who would get close to me. She's was mama's little girl only! But as stupid as it sounded.... I liked that at the time cause I thought it meant loyalty to me..... so when she hissed and growled at people.... I thought it was cute. I know.....I know.... now I am better and socialization is very high on my list of good developement! But anywayzzzzz...... I wanted a maltese and my hubby wanted a yorkie. Again... this was many years ago...... I brought my first yorkie and I was hooked....... but down the road, I saw a maltese.... who I fell in love with. Breeder said he was 5 months old and barely 2 lbs so I had decided to get him. He was suppose to be around 4 lbs full grown...... he is.... I kid you not a 12 pounder now! LOL I think the breeder lied about his age...... which I bummed about because we are celebrating the wrong day! I'm sorry.... back to your question..... My yorkies , especially my girls, run the house. They also use my BaoBao(maltese) as a toy at times. But he is the sweetest, nicest and best dog anybody can ask for! Both breeds are wonderful. I get the best of both worlds from them but it's all about what you are looking for. Yorkies tend to be a little more headstrong.... a bit more agressive. Malteses seem calmer and sweet.... likes attention and can be more like velcro! LOL Hop this helps! |

| My Maltese is 5.5 lbs and she has the most sweetest personality. She is a total luv bug. She has always, for 10 years, slept under the covers in bed with me and always right next to my chest/stomach. Her personality is playful and laid back at the same time. Very very attached to her human (me) My yorkie is only 4 months so not a lot of experience yet, but she reminds me a lot of my maltese at that age. She is a little spitfire! She is cuddly too, but more when SHE wants to be. he he The only major difference I have noticed so far is that the yorkie is much quicker to get into things she shouldn't than my maltese was at that age. You can't go wrong with a maltese!!! My personal, biased, opinion. MaryKay AprilLoves Mom |

| Are your Yorkie and Maltese opposite sex? If so, do you ever breed for Morkie's? Quote:

| I have one maltese and two yorkies. I had two maltese before I even got a yorkie and they are very different personality-wise. I must agree that maltese are more laid back and less hyper. I love all three of mine though, no matter what they are! |

| I have a male(5 pounds) & female(6pounds) Maltese and a female Yorkie. I think they are very similar breeds. As far as their personalities. All my dogs cling to me. They are definitely mommies babies. My Yorkie is the smallest yet she is the leader. My Yorkie had Morkies last week. 2 girls. They look like Yorkies but have white on their chest and feet. I can not wait to see what they are going to look like. I could not choose which breed is better. They are both perfect. |
