| I am looking to get a second dog. I LOVE my Yorkie and am considering getting another, but I have always had a thing for Min Pins too. If any of you are familiar with Min Pins I would love it if you can answer some of my questions… Anyone have one? If so, how to do they interact with your Yorkie? I am afraid they may be too aggressive. Also, do you know of any reputable breeder(s) where I can one?? Thanks!!

| My brother-in-law who lives with us had a Miniature Pincher. I also have 2 neighbors with min-pins. They are very sweet and loves attention. I was suprised at how much they shed. I have to say, I have discouraged people who never had a dog before from getting a Min-Pin because they are Extremely Energitic and tough to train. It's almost like they have attention defecit disorder. Daisy, my brother's dog, tore up the lenolium floor, dug a hole through the wall, tore up carpet and more. My neighors dog Lucy is a sweetheart but she also has torn things up while mom's at work. My other neighbor's dog Xena is a chronic barker and will not let anyone pet her. These are all owners with full-time jobs. I looked up info on them and it seems these bad behavior is common in Min-Pins who are not exercised or challenged on a regular basis. They get bored and become destructive. But.... I'm sure there are MANY who are well adjusted. I just don't recommend them to busy people or who are not experianced with dogs. Please read up on the breed before you choose to get one.

When Daisy was still with us, I loved her. She and Jazzie would play together for hours. Daisy just didn't like being alone and would tear things up when she was lonely. What's your new Yorkie's name? Is is Burrito?

| I have a friend who brings his Min Pin over alot and he gets along great with my Tootie... BUT... my tootie is not tiny, he is 11 pounds. The Min Pin just simply loves to wrestle and play and they get along great... they both have about the same amount of energy and hard head.. LOL

| Thanks for all your replies. I know that I have to do more research into this, but I wanted to see if anybody here had any advice for me also. I briefly "babysat" my friends Min Pin a few years ago (before I got my Yorkie) and just loved her!!! BUT - I did notice that they are very energetic and while Madison is playful and active, she is not at all aggressive and that is my only worry about getting a Min Pin - I dont want it to be too aggressive for Madison...I'll let you know what I decide to do!! Thanks Again PS - TML1412 - I LOVE the picture of Taco with your new Yorkie....SOOO CUTE!!!

| We had a Min Pin named "Bubbles"..she was tiny only 4 pounds. The Yorkies hated her..she was hyper and they barked at her when she got excited and ran around the room. I did not realize they shed so much either...but I am so partial to Yorkies..sometimes I can not be fair..although I had Doxies and we all loved them. |

| My parents have an 8yr old purebred miniature pinscher they rescued from a shelter when he was about 7 months old. Like many new owners, Torch's owners were not prepared for the amount of work and dedication required for a puppy. We would not trade Torch for anything in the world. He truly as been an amazing, sweet, well behaved dog (considering he was in a shelter when he was a puppy!!!). The only damage Torch has ever done was tear up some toilet paper which I have seen plenty of other dogs do as well. I would strongly recommend for you to purchase a miniature pinscher. They are lively, protective, caring dogs that will love you unconditionally. You HAVE to be patient with them though.

| Hello. I want to start of by saying, I am a proud owner of three Miniature Pinschers (Penny Eva and Rocko) and a Yorkie (Lola). My Min Pins have great tempermants (although Min Pins are known for having stubborn, aggressive, and territorial tempermants) I had Penny first, and then I got Lola. Penny took well to Lola and she thinks she is Lola's mom. Lola actually has the outrageous tempermant (not a bad one, just really outgoing and stubborn at times) However, she is still a puppy. Then I adopted Eva (1 yr 6 mon) and Rocko (1 yr 7 mon). They have the BEST tempermants in Min Pins that I have ever seen. So, I think the Yorkie and Min Pins would do fine together. Let's not forget that Yorkies have an outstanding and outgoing personality too. Bad tempermants come in all breeds. You just have to do your homework and really get a feel for a potential pup before adding him or her to the family. Hope I have helped! Thanks! |
