| shih tzu or shih tzu mix I will be bringing home a 10 week old shih Tzu mix next week and I'm super excited to add him to my home. Does anyone on here have a shih Tzu or shih Tzu mix? How are they like and not like your yorkie? How do they get along with your yorkie? Thanks! |

| Congratulations! When I was eighteen, my mom brought home two puppies, one a Yorkie and the other a shih tzu. Both were females. The Yorkie was about three pounds fully grown and our shih tzu was about eight pounds at adulthood. Our shih tzu never stood a chance with our Yorkie. She was very easy-going and sweet. Our Yorkie was also very sweet, but she had a much more dominant personality. My mom passed away a year and a half later, but my sister took them in. They were both wonderful dogs, and I have wonderful memories of both of them.

| I have heard that Shih tzus are more easy going. I thought that would be good for Lexi. Someone to play with, but will also let her be the boss that she thinks she is! I can't wait to bring him home this weekend! |

YT 1000 Club Member | This is an older post, but I am fairly new here. My mother has a Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix (that is what they think he is anyway). He looks like a Shih Tzu though. He is 12 years old and he is a total clown. She has had him since he was left behind at a campground when he was about 6 months old. The campground kept him for a month and no one called to see if there dog was there so they adopted him out and my mom got him. I just got a 9 year old Yorkie in January and I take him to my mom's house all the time and the two of them get along great. They got along right from the first time they met. It might help that they are both older, I don't know. I am just glad they get along so well so that I can take Teek over there and Bobby puts up with him well. How are they doing?

That's great that your yorkie gets long so great with mom's dog. My pups are doing great. Parker, the Shih Tzu mix, is now 8 months old. He is about 14lbs. and Lexi is only 5lbs., but Lexi is definitely the more dominant one. She will just jump right on top of him when she wants to play. I love watching them play together, and I'm so glad I got him. Shih tzus are great dogs. Although they seem to be the opposite of each other in so many ways, they still get along great. Thanks for asking! | |
