| Congrats on Navi. I agree that the previous owners have chosen well for her new home, even though they went about it the wrong way. I would think that if they had "scoped you out" and decided you were the best choice, why didn't they just knock on your door and ask? The way they did it, they could not be sure you would keep her. At least if they asked first, they could have been sure you would (or would not) keep her. Maybe they didn't so much as choose you as they chose your fence, since you said it is so tight. Maybe they just wanted to make sure she was safe? It does sound like they were very concerned that she be in a good place and not just taken to the pound or let loose on the streets like so many, which I'm sure would have been easier, if they didn't care. I'm glad it worked out well & that you have a new wonderful addition to the pack!

YT 1000 Club Member | Marhcarter, What a genuinely good heart you have, seeing the good side of "those people". I sincerely hope that you are right, but a couple things give me pause... Navi is absolutely terrified, when I reach down to pick her up. She cowers and urinates a few drops on an initial pickup. I can (which takes a few minutes) coax her up close enough, where she can be held. I assure you this "fear/timidity" did NOT come from me handling her roughly. I'm trying very hard to blame this on the trauma of being rehomed, but then... When she goes into her crate, she noses the Blanket up and slips under it totally. I'm sure she can breathe ok, since when she comes out she's not staggering or breathing hard. I admit, this activity could be related to the typical Chihuahua "cold nature", or being in the presence of a new Pack. But given her shyness mentioned in the previous paragraph, concerns me as to how she may have been treated previously. Beyond that, she's not eating a very large amount of Dog Food. However she is very active in soliciting scraps from the Table, as we eat a meal. Now yet again, this and the other issues can be blamed on the newness of her residence, but collectively, makes me think she's very glad to get away from where she was. Out of all this, her fear of being picked up, absolutely breaks my heart. None of the animals I have ever raised is/was anything but eagerly and anxiously awaiting my touch, and being held in my arms. I shutter at what this dear little thing could have previously experienced, which caused this ? But, once being held, and looks up at me, she makes it very clear why someone came up with that saying, "We are their World".

| Such a great story! Navi is in great hands. Her face looks just like my mom's chihuahua.

YT 1000 Club Member | When that cute little Latina Taco looks at me with those big eyes... I just melt ----------------- I took NA'vi along with me to pick up her meds... Here's what I got... Cough Medicine: Torbutrol: 1mg. Administer: 1/2 tab 2xd for 10 days. Antibiotic: Clavamox: 62.5mg. Administer: 1/2 tab 2xd for 7 days. (aprox $50 tot) Anyone had any experience with these ? The Vet and I discussed the possibility of her picking up KC from the live Virus, and I got some Antibiotics. Given the infrequency of her coughing, I have not started the Cough Meds yet. I see no reason to give her that, IF the Antibiotic works. Anyone's thoughts on that ? PS: I mentioned to the Vet, the "wisdom" of giving Navi the Live Virus, given the stress of Rehoming and lack of Appetite Navi's just experienced. Given Her look when I mentioned this, I think that those issues may be more closely considered the next time She has that choice to make.

Navi is doing quite well, though she's probably the most "Bossy" little girl I've ever had ! Customarily, I bring a new animal in as a puppy, and they "learn" their place in the Pack like that. As stated, I believe Navi was a single animal with her previous owner, and has not been exposed to other dogs or people. So, she thinks she ought to be the top dog, and my guys have a different opinion On the cough... Have taken her to the Vet twice now, first for a Wellness Exam, then one for the Cough specifically. The Vet called it a "reverse sneeze" which my Female Yorkie does occasionally too (took them both for her opinion). I'm not sure just what that means... I think it's a put off since they don't know what causes it, but, it doesn't seem to "overwhelm" her or Becca. I think it's somewhat related to their excitement level, because if I sorta pet/hold either, they stop. I don't know that I have any other choice than to just wait and see if it gets worse. Think I should go for another (Vet's) opinion ?

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | On Bordatella I do not give the nasal vaccine even to my large dogs. I give the shot. It is kind of a useless shot as there are so many strains of Bordatella virus it does not protect against. Second vet opinion for the "reverse sneeze"? Umm why not videotape it and see what our members here think? Also I am a firm believer in second opinions! Even third opinions at times. On the issue of cowering and a bit of submissive peeing, I have that right now with a Yorkie gal I am babysitting. I know for certain she was not mistreated at my breeders place. But what her first six months were like I have nary an idea - we imagine she was crated the whole time, then only in a Xpen for exercise. I don't like to support show breeders who do this! At all. my personal pet peeve. Rica is coming along nicely, will now squat down when I pick her up without shivering, and no peeing. Although house training has not been too successful. But she does love to walk. She likes to lead our pack on the walks, and to see her confidently strut her stuff down the road, warms the cockles of my heart
