Getting a Dental and some other things

I'm so happy that Magic is home where he belongs. It must be difficult to see him groggy, but he's going to be himself tomorrow. I'm really glad this is behind you boh.

Dr Jack is really great. He called today, and spoke with me for about 30 minutes on his findings. He had talked with hubby yesterday, but when I arrived he was back in surgery. So today he called.

I am going to get a revised diet for Magic, as his PH is 8. Only one crystal seen in the urine, no infection or uti, or in the glands. Teeth were actually very good. Minimal gum disease, and that only on the right/left last molar at the gum line. Hopefully this means we won't need to do another dental in Magic's lifetime.

Prostate slight enlargement - we went through the s+s if the prostate enlarges further to cause a problem. ONe sign for those that are interested is straining to defecate, with bulging of the anus on the sides. This bulge will remain for a little time after defecation.

Seborrehea Keratosis (2) - mystery of where they went to. Both Dave and I had felt them before, but prior to our Wed appt we had both individually gone over him with a fine tooth comb, and neither one of us could find them again.
We did find a small mole on his upper right chest which was excised.

Anyhow that is it, and I am very pleased with his follow up with me.

I didn't see this yesterday. I kept thinking of him, and I hope Magic was back to himself by morn. I also hope today or this weekend you get to do some hiking, swimming or dock diving. I know how much you and your boys love doing things outdoors, and you have had to cope with so much stress and sadness.

I'm glad you like Dr. Jack so much. I'm sure you had a lot of questions, and it's great that he made you feel at ease. I hope Magic's new diet helps him once you start it.

I don't think a dog's diet should be changed for a pH of 8 and one crystal. I've lived this nightmare of pH and crystals and spent a couple thousand only to be frustrated and annoyed. I now have my own pH testing strips and add chicken broth to Teddy's food twice a day. I consistently have pH of 6.5 upon waking and 7.5-8 in evenings. No crystals either, and quiet ultrasounds.

Okay we had a surprise visit from my other sisters, and my neice today.

They called yesterday to say that they would like to visit today.

So we ran around made everything ready for company, and I didn't walk the dogs this morning.

THey got here about noonish. I let RAzzle greet them first and have everyone settled before I bring the big boy Magic out. ANd dammnit, because I know they all love Magic and are good with big dogs, I did not bring him upstairs to the living room on lead.

Well something is wrong. He has yelped several times with pain, and is limping a bit. The yelps seem to happen with a bit of tortion movement, like turning quickly to see behind him to one side or the other. There was some slipping n sliding over the hardwood, lots of excited wagging of the tail, etc. ANd the first yelp happened about 30 minutes into the visit, just as we were sitting down for lunch.

No discernible swelling over hock joint ,elbows, hips, or L/S joint. No heat either. But I elicited a trembling response with flexion and not extension of his hock joint. Right side limping. Looks to me like a rear L side problem.

He is now in his crate and has been for 2hour. We have ice packs on hock joint elbow, and his special lumbar ice pack.

Hubby is going to take him out for a mild 10 minute walk.

I am not panicking yet. But damnit all, can't we get a break every now and then.?

So sorry to hear about your Magic, I hope it is not anything serious and he will be walking around good as new very soon. I feel your frustration though on things going wrong, had one of those night as soon as I got home from work Friday. I had 2 that were on watch for the rest of the evening, both are doing good now though thank goodness. Will be watching this post to see how things go for you and Magic. Prayers to you both.

Thank you me too. He does have DLSS which is degenerative lumbo sacral syndrome. So I do worry.

I've been thinking about Magic so much. I hope he is feeling much better today and is free from pain. He has such a larger than life personality, one I'm sure would draw me in instantly. Magic loves his life with you, absolutely adores and is so protective of you, and he sounds so happy. Yesterday must have been so exciting for him,x and hearing of his yelp broke my heart, too. I pray all of you are well today and I hope you are enjoying your Civic Holiday.
