Good News - Oncologist APPT Alright, Yeah, got into the oncologist on Wed this wk, she is located at Oakville Mississauga Hospital. Only 22 minute drive from us - traffic permitting So some things we are doing; Today we start her on a cancer diet. It is not too much different then the home cooking we are doing, but based on my research we are adding in some additional supplements. My hubby as I write is blending the food up now. I've been making little meatballs with her food and hand feeding her so hopefully tonight we can get 2c of food into her, and added to this am feeding, she might be up to her regular quiet day food amount! We are not going to give up hope! We will see that oncologist, find out how far advanced this cancer is, for example has it metastisized yet? And we take it hour by hour and day by day. But we will enjoy our time with her. Love her, cuddle her, and keep our attitudes upbeat around her. We are creating a doggy stretcher for her - if needed it is there. I already have a car ramp; so the idea is to convert one of our pull carts into a stretcher and then be able to roll her up on the stretcher into the van She is responding well to Reiki, and to the hydro packs. I am treating her daily with this; and will start a bit of lymph drainage techniques to her rear end first. I am trying to locate a Tellington Touch practitioner here in Toronto. The worrisome thing right now, is that her eyes are very light sensitive, weepy, and glassy. I have already talked to Dr Jack about this, and he thinks it is part of the disease. If her eyes start bulging off to emerg we go. Today's neck swelling is somewhat lower, which means she is breathing easier. But still we will check her every 2-3 hrs to see how she is doing through out the night. I'm sure as she sleeps right beside my bed, I'd wake up if her breathing got too ragged. But I don't rest right if one of the pups are ill. I take temp when I awake and feel examine gums. I am making a list of questions for the oncologist. |
I'm sorry to hear this news. I don't know what I would do in your shoes. |
I'd say she's in the best hands she could be. She's lucky she has you both for her parents and will receive the best possible care. Keeping her in my prayers. |

Thank you for the links |
I am so sorry to hear this awful news..... but I also am so thankful that Zoey has you as her owner..... all that loving care and making sure that she is comfy is so very important. I hope that Zoey has a good night tonight... remember, 1 day at a time. Give her some snuggles from me! Keep up the positive thoughts and also remind yourself that she has a wonderful and loving home. There are so many animals out there that aren't so lucky. |
