That is an awful read. It can be so treatable in humans and yet for dogs, obviously not so. Oh, I just pray somehow some way this can be something less terrible.

My heart goes out to you and your family. My fifteen year old student spoke to me at great length today about life with his family dog. As he spoke of the love between them and the life they shared, my mind kept leading me to you and Zoey. I pray that your girl has a better night and that you and her doctors can help her.

Pathology Report in - Malignant Lymphoma
 
Well just finished talking with Dr Jack - who in turn just finished with the pathology report. The news is very bad. He said Malignant Lymphoma, and judging by what he is seeing very aggressive.

He asked me to book in at VEC for the oncology specialist. I called the earliest according to reception is Apr 4th. I said this cancer is aggressive, I need something much earlier than that. She said have Dr Jack call in to speak with the specialist and maybe they can see her on an emergency basis earlier than the 4th.

Tomorrow I will try Univ of Guelph and see what they say.

For details of this disease I posted a link in an earlier missive.

My faint hope is now gone..............

Oh, that is awful. Your poor little darling Zoey. I am so sorry - this is as bad news as a mommie can get. You must be stunned and in shock, despite what you suspected. I pray that you will be able to get her in sooner rather than later and find out what is best to be done for her. I don't know what to say - how can one comfort some one from afar when they are dealing with such tragedy. There just really are no words to express how sorry I am that she is so ill. Hopefully her medication can keep her relatively comfortable until you can get her back in and learn what can be done. All I can do is pray for both of you and hope that there is a chance for her.

Oh Gail, please don't give up hope. I know it sounds very bad, but you are going to need to take care of yourself to remain strong at a time that you just want to crawl into a corner and cry. You have so many people who love you, and I hope that you can lean on us. I know you will pour your heart and love out to Zoey, use your magic touch on her, and do all that you can to make her feel as well as possible. We care so much and are here to help you. You and Zoey continue to be in my heart and prayers. I am so, so sorry that you got such bad news.

I am so sorry for you and Zoey and what you are now facing....so now we move from "faint hope" forward, to DETERMINATION.....You use what knowledge you already possess, and you absorb every new bit of information regarding this terrible disease, that you can find. You buck up for the fight of your life gemy...for you and for Zoey. You ask questions, you read, you think things thru, you formulate direction and decision, and you pray for guidance and peace and the knowledge to do what it is going to take to go into battle against this diagnosis. They are doing things nothing short of miraculous with stem cells and a multitude of other advanced technologies....you will do what you can for your precious Zoey, you will handle that, and you will draw strength from deep inside, to meet head on the challenges you will be confronted with. I pray for you, strength and determination and unwavering resoluteness to attack this monster, and come out with Zoey, on the other side of this battle, courageous winners!

I'm so very sorry, Gail. I was really hoping and praying it wasn't that. I will keep your big girl, Zoey, in my prayers. It's just so unfair that she is so young and is facing this fight. I wonder if a bone marrow transplant could be done. Sending hugs your way.

Not what we were all hoping for for sure...however I will continue to pray that the specialist develop a strong course of action to lick this. Again Gail hugs to you, I am so sorry that you have to go through this. Anything you need I am a pm away.

Thank you Jeanie. Stunned, angry, worried for her. And I hope too that the meds can keep her somewhat comfortable. Do you know there are only about 6 oncologists in all of Canada? I'm lucky that three of them are fairly close to me.

Thank you kathy. I am aware of stem cell therapy, I had been researching this for Magic. I think with what I know at this moment in time probably bone marrow transplant would be more appropriate.

Thank you. I've been ready up on that last night, there are qualifications that need to be met for a candidate to be a viable one for the transplant. At least that is what I have read. And it is just one of the many things on my plate that need to be discussed with an oncologist.
