YT 2000 Club Donating Member | So much love - so much Worry As many are aware, I breed BRT's, and am honored to own a beautiful Yorkie. I have my Yorkie because my trainer, for my Brt's breed Yorkies and well I fell in love with the Yorkie, by seeing her Yorkies train with my Brt's for many years. But this isn't about my Razz, my Yorkie, but my Magic. My first BRT. I've been reviewing photos, and videos to delete from my hard drive. And those so much detail a lot of the work we did together. He is an amazing dog, that I was blessed to own. A multichampion, a multiple group winner, a grand champion. The first BRT to be Tempermanet tested; and the examiner wanted to buy him, after seeing him work! Twice BRT top dog in CKC. Twice in obedience top of his class. First BRT to do dock diving. But he hurt his back. He now has DLSS - Degenerative lumbo-sacral syndrome, and with recent Xrays some changes apparent. I am wondering if any-one has done stem cell regenerative procedure. I am considering this for Magic, and would appreciate any thoughts or ideas

| I'm sorry. We have not looked into that. I hope you find something that works for your boy. Back problems are horrible and devastating. Is he doing okay symptomatically?

That means he is very weak in his rear end; his rear legs will shake with prolonged (1 minute or more) standing. I have been asked not to work with him, as we are doing physio and chiro, we are about at the end of the treatments, and no perceived difference in the rear leg actions. Magic loves to jump and retreive and swim. He is so used to an active life, it breaks my heart to keep him away from the activities he so loves. I am willing and ready to try anything that might help him to do what he so loves to do, in a healthful way.

| This is so very sad. I will pray for him. I did some research on stem cells for Tinkerbell and Liver Shunt. Vet-Stem Cell Therapy: Arthritis in Dogs & Cats | Tendons, Ligaments & Joints in Horses There are quite a few places doing this, especially with horses. This is the site I checked out. They are years from doing liver trials though. But they do bones and tendons now... and I think I priced it at around $2500, which is cheaper than most surgeries.

| I am so sorry Gail that Magic is facing this. It is heartbreaking to have to limit a dog's activities.

| That doesn't sound good. Is he a surgical candidate? Weakness - the cord may be really compressed . ...although prognosis is only fair if you went this way... Any good neuros there to ask? Where are they doing this at?

| My heart aches hearing your worries over Magic. You have had such a beautiful life together, and I know you share an amazing love and bond with him. Stem cell transplants sound so promising, but like you, I'd want to hear more clinical trials or animals helped with it before I went ahead with it. I know in my heart that you will find a way to help your beautiful Magic, and I believe your love, committment and dedication to his health and wellbeing, and your shear will have already helped him so much. Hold onto those memories, and I hope you will be able to make another video documenting your love, life, and accomplishments together. Your videos bring me so many smiles and they warm my heart so much.

| The only thing I heard recently about stem cell therapy for an injury was some docs on ESPN and one was talking about tumor formation being a real concern with stem cell treatment in a knee cartilage injury. The other doc said, tumors aside, it is still a coming therapy for sports injuries but has side effects like any treatment. Don't know if that could translate to dogs with your baby's injury. Just an FYI to consider. Sure hope you can find something to help Magic.

MRI done at Guelph University, physio and chiro - at my osteo vet in Caledon Hills. VEC here in Toronto closed down their physio and underwater treadmill placed Stem Cell treatment is one option. I am just on the start of exploring that option, I will go to the best expert in the field I can. Any-one a day's drive or at most 2 days away would be fine for me. Ca would be hard as it is a 3-4 day drive, and I won't fly Magic in cargo. as I live in Toronto - PA, Ohio, Michigan, all are states with a days drive. Oh yes how can I forget New YorkKentucky, Tennessee maybe I can make in 2 day drive.

| Have you tried laser theraphy? My Rottweiler's aunt lives in California with my very good friend. Blitz has had a long successful career in Agilty. Blitz started having neck and problems with her rear end. The vet started Laser theraphy on Blitz and it helped her out greatly. We don't think she will ever do agility again but she isn't in pain anymore.
