| my kitty threw up.. my cat tommy has never thrown up before and today it exploded out of him (sorry to gross anyone out ) it just looked like food and hair and water, but its just scared me cause hes never thrown up in his life! he seems ok now, but a little unsteady on his feet. any one else have kitties that know what i should be looking out for? can puppy food make a kitty sick? i dont know if he ate any but it could be an option. when anything is off with dexter, i know i can log on here and search for some answers, but im not part of any cat forums! maybe i'll look into joining one... |

| Cats are notorious for throwing up. My cats do it all the time, mostly hair balls and nothing to worry about. If kitty goes off food for 3 days or more and/or is not keeping water down, then it is time for a trip to the vet.

| How old is your cat? Short haired or Long Haired? My cats throw up hairballs sometimes.

| Could of just been a hairball issue. You can try giving him laxatone on a regular basis to control it.

| I agree with everyone here that it is probably just a hairball. Keep an eye on him though, even if he starts eating some again (now this is gross) but keep a check on his breath, cats should have a food smell but if it starts to smell like something rancid get him to the vet. I say this because my cat was thowing up hairballs but eating and drinking fine but her breath could kill you, I finally saw something in the back of her throat(after much fighting) I took her to the vet and they had to surgically remove a hairball the had wrapped around the back of her tongue and had hardened.

| thanks for the advice everyone! he seems to be doing ok today. he looked sad all night last night, but was fighting with the pup again this morning. i have my fiance keeping an eye on the kitty today while im at work with dexter to give the kitty a little break! lol tommy (the cat) is around 6 or 7 years old and is long haired. he never had a hair ball before but i suppose it would make sense. the puppy throws up cat hair about once a week because he chews on the cat so much! lol. | What a gorgeous boy! My long haired cat throws up sometimes like that. It is almost projectile vomiting. And I think it hurts him cause he jumps backwards from it as he is vomiting...I feel so bad for him, but I don't know what to do.
