Thanks everyone for the well wishes for Tinkerbelle. I was looking at her leg today where they shaved it for the IV and it made me start crying. I sure love this little furbaby. She's been through so much in her little life.

Tala went for her final test before she starts on the heartworm treatments. She has to be on an antibiotic for 28 days and then on Oct 8 she gets her 1st injection in the back and the next day she gets the 2nd one. It's very painful for her and she has to be kept very quiet for 6 weeks so she doesn't get clots and die. I'm kind of scared about this but the other option is to let her die slowly from heart worms. What kind of choice is that?! Gotta do it.

Agree, you have to do it. You're doing the right thing for her and she'll know it and love you more.

Well I have now survived my second day of dieting, I just have to get some weight off, for my well being. But it's tough, really tough.

Oh Kathy, I hear you. I have to do it too. I got the "word" from my doctor last week. Gulp! We should check in with each other and keep each other on track. What are you going to do to change your diet? I've got to lower the carbs.

Tala is sick. She is on clindamycin for a month before her shots and she can't keep her food down. Not good. I have to call the Animal Authority tomorrow to see what they want me to do. Poor girl.

Tink is a brat! She will not stop charging the fence at the Rottie next door. She has broken off all her bottom teeth. It was expensive to get them sealed when she got her cleaning. I'm gonna have to start putting her on a tie-out instead of letting her run free in the back yard. Makes me mad at her.

That's a great idea Susie...we can be diet buddies!!! Well I was going to do Nutrisystem, but unfortunately I really don't care for the food. So...i'm going to follow their "diet" but use my own food. Lots of veggies, smart carbs, lean proteins...and fruits. It'll work because my eating habits have been terrible...everything will be in moderation, no more yummy ice cream or snack foods. I'm hoping to lose at least 30 pounds.

Sad to hear Tala is not doing well, hopefully they'll have an answer for you so she can be well and get her shots. Is Clindamycin the only thing that works?

Tink, omg...feisty huh? We have a couple of bigger dogs that live behind us, Winston runs and barks with them but never gets close to the fence, thank goodness. I hate to hear that she has broken her teeth...she always had such a sweet smile.

Best diet, I have been on a bunch, is weight watchers. They really teach you how to eat. Show you how to portion your food. Congrats on your weight loss. Keep up the good work

Thanks, I really feel like I can do this, I've made up my mind. Time will tell I guess.

Good for you Kathy! Day 5 for me and I've lost 3 lbs. As soon as my joints calm down a bit, I'll be adding a little more walking too if I can.

I lost the most on the Atkinson diet but unfortunately I put most of it right back on because I didn't really change how I ate. I just ate the things the diet allowed. My tastes have changed tremendously since I moved to Texas. Maybe my fruit and veggie and chicken diet will work for me. I sure hope so.

5 days down...still at 4 pounds lost. That's ok though, I simply have to keep it up. No more of their food left...so now I'm on my own. I sure hope I can do it, I just have to.

Thanks I need the encouragement. I'm trying to look at this as a new way of life, not just a diet. Once I get these pesky pounds off, I never want to see them again.
