I disagree-- being a hairstylist is wonderful!!!! And yes people always want what they don't or cant have- but you be honest with them and you do something that is like what they want and do what is best for their hair and face shape!!!! I absolutely love my job. Like I have said before- I don't feel like its work- I get paid to be creative and have fun and talk all day and wear cute clothes all the time!!!! I love my clients!! I feel most of them are friends now and not just clients. I am sooooo lucky!!! And hey- Our shop just got voted- the Best Of The Best award in our area!!!! Yea!!! We have like a ton a salons in our area!!!! Yea!!!

| Try ebay- type in flat irons/chi! I have had many clients buy them there cuz they don't want to spend $130.00 for it. So some have gotten a chi for about 80-90.00 on ebay- brand new and still in the box!!! Well worth the money!!!

| Deyna~ I have had curly hair my whole life and am a pro at the flat iron (at least until I gave up b/c it was taking up too much of my life) If you have a good quality flat iron it will last you forever and make all the difference in the world! And if it makes you feel better about your hair not looking right, mine is falling out for no apparent reason ;( So at least you still have hair to flat iron, I am too afraid to touch my hair with anything and am soon going to have to cut it off ;( boo-hoo |

I bought a Maxiglide by Maxius.. and I LOVE IT! It does wonders to my hair. It's very good for frizz also. I heard a lot of people say that the Chi straightner burnt their hair. I dunno though, I've never tried the Chi. Good luck Deyna

| The maxiglide is supposed to be very good too!!! I think its the one on the home shopping network!! But- the Chi if used properly and with the correct products on it before every use-- is woderful!!!! I use it on my hair everyday!!! I too have curly hair-- And my hair is still fairly healthy for all I do to it!! I color it blond and hilite even lighter, this past winter I went red with blond, then went all dark brown!!! So I do a ton of crap tp my hair and still use the flat iron!!! The right products make a huge difference!!!!

| Just make sure that whatever flatiron you use is ceramic and not just ceramic plated metal... I tried using pomade when I was cutting my hair choppy... But I find that more creamy/less oily products work better... I bought some cheap "got2be" stuff from CVS awhile ago. It smells like icing and works well. You just have to really work it into your hands. You can also try wax instead of pomade. A lot of my friends also say that by pointing their blowdryers straight down on the top of their heads and using downward motions only keep it flatter in general. I can't tell you if it's true. My hair has about 50 layers right now and is always fluttering around! LOL. |
