Just make sure that whatever flatiron you use is ceramic and not just ceramic plated metal...

I tried using pomade when I was cutting my hair choppy... But I find that more creamy/less oily products work better... I bought some cheap "got2be" stuff from CVS awhile ago. It smells like icing and works well. You just have to really work it into your hands.

You can also try wax instead of pomade.

A lot of my friends also say that by pointing their blowdryers straight down on the top of their heads and using downward motions only keep it flatter in general. I can't tell you if it's true. My hair has about 50 layers right now and is always fluttering around! LOL.
