| soda.... Soda's usually list 17-24 grams of sugar on the side of the can, the equivalent of 6-10 teaspoons of sugar in each 12 oz can. Ingesting refined sugar (white sugar) lowers your body's immunity for 4 HOURS. Soft drinks contain a tremendous amount of PHOSPHOROUS. Large amounts of phosphorous are bad news for the body because they combine with other minerals (like Calcium) and tie them up for eventual excretion. Calcium is a mineral your body DOES NEED in large amounts in your bloodstream for daily use. If your soft drink is yanking the calcium out of your blood stream, where does the body get the calcium it needs for everyday jobs? Why, it gets it from your teeth and bones. Children should not drink soda, their bones are trying to grow and develop. For years soda was not allowed in schools until large monetary donations from soda companies in recent years started building stadiums and other facilities schools could not afford.

| I use to be a soda addict, but I've cut back to once every now and then.

| I personally don't drink sodas (they are horrible for you, not to mention how expensive they are when you go out to eat! ). I think it is kind of sad how schools sell out for money, but I guess it's somewhat of a necessity to do so. |

| I know they are horrible and I keep trying to cut them out of my diet completely but mom keeps buying cases of them from the kids at church selling them for school fundraisers! and she doesn't even drink them and I have no will power if soda is in the house. I can pass by it in the grocery store and not buy it but if its sitting at my house already paid for i have a hard time not drinkig it.

| I haven't had caffeine (sp) is over four years...unless it is in the form of dark chocolate. BUT I will have a 7-up or Sprite when I have an upset stomach....which has just as much sugar as any other "cola" product! :eek I know most of our local schools did away with vending machines that sold soda....they have water and juice....which they say juice is just as bad too! Can't win for losing.....
