Math Problem with a Prize

A man in a restaurant asked a waiter for a juice glass, a dinner plate, water, a match, and a lemon wedge. The man poured enough water onto the plate to cover it.
"If you can get the water on the plate into this glass without touching or moving this plate, I will give you $100," the man said. "You can use the match and lemon to do this."
A few minutes later, the waiter walked away with $100 in his pocket. How did the waiter get the water into the glass?

Hon, Mistyinca got it correct already. You were right on the soldier and boy bent over but the other is the old man but there is also a young pretty girl and an old lady.

Here's the current one and I'll give you all a Hint. The glass will be upside down when the water is in it.

hmmm i'll take a guess... you light the match and blow it out as you put it under thecup on the plate creating a sucktion and bringing the water in the cup?

You are close but not quite right because if you blow out the match it would not create the vacuum to suck the water from the space between the plate and the glass. First the waiter put the lemon wedge in the middle of the plate and then stuck the match in the lemon wedge, lit the match and put the glass over it.....thus without moving or touching the plate.

I'm going to pretty busy this evening but anyone feel free to start somemore. I posted before the only one that was a prize was the first one. Have fun.

Three people survive a ship-wreck and they swim to a small island where there is nothing at all but one coconut tree and one monkey. The survivors gather up all of the coconuts and then put them in a large pile beneath the coconut tree. The first survivor then takes half of the coconuts, plus one-half of a coconut. The second survivor takes half of the remaining coconuts, plus one-half of a coconut. The third survivor takes half of the remainder, plus one-half of a coconut. That leaves just one coconut for the monkey. How many coconuts were there to begin with?

Well I'm back but I am having a hard time getting any # to have one left for the monkey.

If I start with 6 coconuts
and the first person takes half which is 3 plus the 1/2
2nd takes 1/2 of 3 which l.5 plus 1/2
3rd person takes 1/2 of l.5 which is .75 plus 1/2 this answer leaves me with 1 and 1/4 coconuts for the monkey....so I go lower it doesn't seem to work either. ???? what is X LOL

Oh I see what I am doing wrong I should be taking 1/2 of each of the 1/2's too three times. I'll see you when my brain isn't tired....tomorrow. Have to find a calculater. If I only paid attention in algebra lol .

so my 1/2's would become 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 , I'm thinking. lol

so total # of cats = 6 * 6 * 6 = 216
# of legs for cats [if each have 4] = 216 x 4 = 864
each of 6 cats has 6 kittens, so # of kittens = 216 * 6 = 1296
so total # of legs for kittens = 1296 * 4 = 5184
total = 12 + 864 + 5184 = 6060

First, the waiter stuck the match into the lemon wedge, so that it would stand straight.

Then he lit the match, and put it in the middle of the plate with the lemon.

Then, he placed the glass upside-down over the match.

As the flame used up the oxygen in the glass, it created a small vacuum, which sucked in the water through the space between the glass and the plate.

Thus, the waiter got the water into the glass without touching or moving the plate.
