| [News] US Dog Fighting Rings Stealing Pets for "Bait" This is so sad. The article says we need to care for our pet as if it were a four-year-old child - which I know we already do here on YT. Still, a very interesting article. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...gfighting.html

| This has been going on for many years. Back in 1992 a couple of well dressed women (working seperately) were going door to door asking if they had any dogs that needed to be re-homed, and that they have set up a new no-kill shelter where the dogs are trained and adopted out. They had a binder with impressive pictures of the compound where the dogs would live during training. I read in the paper a few weeks later where they were arrested for selling the dogs to labratory's. They could of just as easily collected dogs for fighting rings I guess. How sad that our companion animals are at such risk these days, and how we can't let them out of our sight. I never do anyway, but isn't it just so sad we do have to live this way? |

| Just last week 68 kittens stacked up in crates were abondoned in my area because of a dog fightening ring that was shut down. My girlfriend is fostering 15 of the kittens. Yes the kittens were bred for bait! So sick and very sad for these helpless animals. These people can't be punished enough in a lifetime. |

| Here's Something To Be Happy About Report: Vick Plea Deal Could Include Year In Prison POSTED: 9:59 am EDT August 16, 2007 UPDATED: 2:59 pm EDT August 16, 2007 RICHMOND, Va. -- The Virginian Pilot newspaper in Norfolk, Va., is reporting that federal prosecutors are offering Falcons quarterback Michael Vick a plea deal on dogfighting charges that would require Vick to serve at least one year in prison. Sources have told CBS 46 that Vick has until 9 a.m. Friday to accept a deal or face new charges in a superseding indictment. Vick’s two co-defendants, Quanis Phillips and Purnell Peace have already agreed to plea agreements and are scheduled to appear in a Richmond courtroom for a plea hearing Friday. The two have reportedly agreed to testify against Vick if the quarterback’s case goes to trial in November.
