| I had just immigrated to the United States two months before that (from the Netherlands). And was working in a call center for a big telephone company. We usually had the weather channel on big tv's in the call center, because the weather affected how many calls we got and from which area. But all of a sudden the company switched the tv's over to CNN and I remember watching as the second plane hit the WTC and they were talking about other planes being hijacked. We were waiting, just waiting helplessly to hear the news on the other planes. I felt nauseated all day! I got tons of phone calls from my family and friends overseas that day to ask if we were all right. My mom send me flower bulbs and asked me to plant them in honor and memory of those who died in the 9-11 attacks.

| I had done a night shift and was dozing on and off on the sofa. I saw bits and bobs thru the dozing and i honestly thought it was a film. Later when i had to pick the kids up from school everyone was talking about it, only then did i realise the film i had seen clips of was really 9/11

| I live within sight of NYC in a town with a skyline view of the city. I was watching the Today Show when the special report came on. I stood in my driveway and watched the buildings collapse..... that was one of the saddest days of my life and I still feel a shock when I look at the skyline and the buildings are gone. It looks like someone took an eraser and erased them from view.

| I remember that day vividly, I had started a new job at a new school at the time. I was a paraprofessional working with special ed. children. I didn't shut my cellphone off that morning. After the first plane hit my girlfriend was calling me, and I answered the phone something I normally don't do. She said that the world trade center was hit by a plane. At this point we assumed a plane crashed into it. I hung up and she calls me back and tells me whats going on. In the meantime I had to alert the teacher, they dismissed the school without alarming the children. When I left the building I saw smoke clouds in the sky for I live in NJ, now I am started to worry for my husband took the path train right below WTC II and he was on way to work. The first time the WTC was bombed my husband worked in the building. This time he worked right across the street. To make a long story short, my husband made it to safety but I did not hear from him until 7 pm that night when he walked into the door. It was horrible and my husband saw terrible things and was not himself for awhile. He is lucky to survive both attacks. In my town 40 people went to work and never came home. They built a beautiful memorial park in honor of these people. |
