| Sewing novice quest./ pressure foot? I am learning how to sew. I have it down pretty well, but for the past day I have had an issue with jamming, needles breaking etc... I have a Singer Simple machine, and I am sewing plain cotton fabric. I just discovered that it sews a perfectly fine seam if the pressure foot is raised, but when the pressure foot is down, it sews maybe two stitches, jams and then stops. It's like the material won't feed. I have a feeling that I am missing something very simple. If any experienced seamstresses can offer suggestions to help resolve my problem, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

| Hmmmm, that's so frustrating isn't it!! Well, do you have everything thread right? Is your needle a new, sharp and an appropriate size? Is your machine oiled? Take apart the inside bobbin area and make sure a thread hasn't gotton tangled up inside and clean any lint out. |

| Judy.... I am sorry you are having problems. Try not to get too frustrated. If you haven't already done this -- take the pressure plate off and clean the "fuzzies" from the feed dogs. That might help. |

| Success! I think with changing needles and whatnot, I must have brushed against the stitch length dial or something. I played around with the stitch length and tightness settings and it's working fine now. Thanks all!!

| See a little patience goes a long way. I just started sewing again, and my machine died. I have to wait until Friday to get it fixed. Ugh!

Aha! You figured it out already! i was going to suggest checking the tension...that's what usually makes my thread break constantly and the bobbin thread gets all matted up and the needles break....it's so darned frustrating til you think to check THAT! Glad it's all ok now!

| I am making a little puppy dress for a gift. I honestly don't know how people do this for a living. It's taken me all day to do this one little bitty puppy dress, and I still have some handstitching to do. : It takes a lot of patience. It has been fun (except for my frustration this morning) but I would not be able to do this all the time. My hat is off to all of the YT seamstresses out there who keep our little doggies from being naked all the time.
