I am learning how to sew. I have it down pretty well, but for the past day I have had an issue with jamming, needles breaking etc... I have a Singer Simple machine, and I am sewing plain cotton fabric. I just discovered that it sews a perfectly fine seam if the pressure foot is raised, but when the pressure foot is down, it sews maybe two stitches, jams and then stops. It's like the material won't feed.
I have a feeling that I am missing something very simple. If any experienced seamstresses can offer suggestions to help resolve my problem, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you.
