He wasn't diabetic, but he fell off a ladder about a year ago and crushed his heel and the bones in his foot. His wife was so sick about him getting his foot amputated that she couldn't even talk about it, but one day she told me about it. He's doing really well now...he had that phantom pain, but that is much less now. It's been about 6 weeks since he had it done. He was getting fitted for a prothesis today and he has talked to others that have had this done and they are all doing well also. I hope and pray it doesn't come to amputation for your husband. Thank you for sharing that story. I know that eventually we will learn to live with it and it won't always seem this bad, but man it is hard journey to get from here to there.

I have Crohn's Disease and have had 4 surgeries. He has a serious heart problem, and I live in fear that he will eventually need a transplant if medications don't help to strengthen his heart. There have been many times when I've cried in the car on the way to work because I get so frustrated with it all. We both just try to live our lives as normally as possible.

Let your kids be there for you, and if you need to have a meltdown, do it. I don't know what I would do without my two daughters and my son. They are always there for me and for my husband if we need to talk. It's not easy going through any of this, but just know that you have many friends here who care about you and who are willing to listen. I will keep your husband and you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your empathy and encouragement. I'm sorry that you have health issues. When we are healthy we just take it for granted and don't even realize how grateful we should be.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. It is comforting to know that I can come here anytime for a boost of support. And believe me I'm going to need to, because I'm sure it's going to get much worse before it gets better.

It is just so emotionally draining to muster up everything I need to deal with this and to be a rock for him also.
