Mybabe4me | 07-12-2007 02:56 PM | Baby Mikey Needs a lot of prayers again Hi there everyone,
Just thought I would start a new thread. Baby Mikey has been getting worst as you all know. So tomorrow he will need to have a shunt place and drain put in his cystic hygroma. So tomorrow for sure is the day for brain surgery. We need many prayers. He will be placed on Life support again. Becca is very scare of this. So I am praying so hard that everything goes well and he can come off it quickly. I will post becca's emails for the day and also Mikey's candle liting ceremony. Thank you all.
I am in the process of making food to bring up to Becca to eat. she loves mom cooking and it sure beats hosiptal food.lol
Morning email
good morning. i will be short in this email, because i did not sleep much last night and need to get rest now. mikey has begun to vomit every other feeding. they believe more pressure is now in his head and they are rushing his ct scan now. the results will come back in about an hour, so i will be catching up on sleep during so. they are changing his eating from 75 ml every three hours, to a continuous feed. they figure if its a small amount going in all the time, it wont be as bad as a large amount at once. if he cannot tolerate this feeding, they will have to give him another i.v and give him fluids through that. he is due for surgery tomorrow, unless his ventricles have enlarged, then they will do emergency surgery. we appreciate the support. if you do not wish to have updates, please let me know and i will discontinue them. thank you
Afternoon email
good afternoon everyone. i just wanted to let you know what the results were of the ct scan. it looks like his ventricles have slightly increased and his cystic hygroma has slightly decreased. again, the ventricles would be filling the void. so the doctors have decided to go ahead and place the shunt in tomorrow. however, (im glad ive talked to you about this kim), they will be placing a shunt in the ventricles, with a connection to the outside of the brain to drain that extra fluid as well. there will only be one shunt, but with two drainages. it will empty into his stomach. he is doing fine right now. they have him on his continuous feeds and so far he has tolerated them. they now have him in the treatment room trying to get an IV in for tomorrow. its going to be a big day, so think good thoughts for my little man! hopefully, this will resolve lots of him problems. thank you http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/...l=eng&gi=Mikey
