Mikey is so adorable!!...Glad you where able to post a pic of him...you are all in for a long day tomorrow...Mikey has been showing his strength through out this whole ordeal...His strength will continue w/ all the prayers coming for him....
Even though at times it may feel like one step forward, two steps back, he looks very alert in the pic's, that surly says something about his progress....

Hang in there & get some rest when you can....you need to stay strong (for him) also ......

I am praying for the best tomorrow for little Mikey. He has been through so much already and yet when you look in those eyes of that little man you see a true fighter. Heres hoping and praying the doctors can figure out what is causing all of this infection and can get rid of it for good. Keep on fighting Mikey.

This is one of the first posts that I check and always pray for good news. My heart and prayers go out to all of you.

I hope all went well today with Mikey's surgery. I pray that it is something that works to take the swelling off of his brain and get healthy so he can go home.

Praying for MIkey and hoping for an update after the surgery...............

Hi there everyone,
Boy it has been a very busy day. Just want to set everyones minds at ease your prayers helped so much. Mikey pulled through the surgery with flying colors. The doctor only put the interial drain in today. He explained to Becca, my mom and myself that if he did both the shunt and the drain that there would be so much pressure taken off the brain that the brain would collapse within itself. He and we do not want that to happen. So what he did today is placed a drain in the cystic hygroma this goes from his head to his belly inside. when everything is healed properly you will not see anything. Now for the hard part. Next Friday he is going in for the second part of the surgery. The doctor said that there is a 70 percent chance that Mikey will need the shunt placed next friday. After Mikey came out of surgery today the nurses said he was schedualed for surgery next friday to have the shunt place. Tomorrow Mikey will need a cat scan and on Monday and also on Wed. this is to make sure the drain is not draining to fast becuase if it does the brain and body will fill that void with another cyst. This is what we are trying to prevent. So as I said next friday we have to do this all over again. My daughter did ask if two surgeries were better than one and if Mikey could tolerate it after being so sick. The doctor said he will do better having two then if he had one and we ran into complications with his brian collapsing. Safest way to do this is two surgeries.
Now when Becca and I got to go down and see Mikey after his surgery we walked into see a differant child. Mikey was so awake and alert it was not funny. He was kicking his legs he is 5 and a half weeks old and has never kicked his legs like this. He was watching people outside the window in the recovery room. I got to hold him and Becca was standing beside me and Mikey kept trying to look over to see her. It was amazing. Now I must say I have very rarely seen him awake and when I have he was not very alert. so this was so unbelievable to me.
After I left the hospital the nurses feed mikey 15ml of pedialyte and then he took 25 ml of breastmilk from the bottle. THey were tube feeding him yesteday because he forgot how to eat. I am just so amazed. I just do not have the words to explain it. I hope you all understand.
My family and myself would like to thank you all for all the support you have given us and the candles and prayers you have all sent. It just touches us so much. Thank you.
I will try and post a pre-op picture and a post-op picture. I am just and so wiped out right now i do not have the energy to download the pictures into the computer. So tomorrow I will post them.

Great news!!! Mikey is so adorable. Can't wait to see new pictures.

So happy to hear that Baby Mikey came through the surgery with flying colors. I am still sending prayers for Mikey. I pray that he has a great week and that his surgery on Friday goes as well as todays.

He is such a beautiful little boy.
