Donating YT 14K Club Member | Venting over a painting. I was contacted a few months back on dogster from someone that thought the picture I had of Gracie was beautiful and she wanted to have a painting done of her. She asked for permission and I agreed. This past week, the painting was completed and much to my surprise, they had also painted a picture of London. These paintings were listed on eBay (which I knew they had an ebay store). I have been watching these items all week because I was going to bid on them...after all, they are MY yorkies. I look this morning and am completely shocked! The painting of Gracie is already up to $107. Why would someone bid on someone else's dogs? That's like having a painting of your child and someone else bidding on it. Some complete stranger is going to have MY Gracie's picture up in their home/office. If they wanted a painting of a dog, why not contact the artists and have them do a portrait of THEIR OWN dog? Now, I'm not going to be able to get MY pictures because the price is going to be too high and I cannot afford it.

| I just found them on ebay. They are truly beautiful and she did an excellent job. A yorkie admirer would like any beautiful yorkie item, whether that is a pic of their dog or not. Why not contact her and ask her to make another set for you personally and what her price would be? |

| You thought she was doing them for you and not for her own personal gain to sell on ebay? If she never once mentioned she'd be selling them, or that was not your agreement, I think I'd contact her and question it. Mention that you never agreed to her doing a picture of London and that she took advantage of the situation. Tell her that was not your understanding and you do not authorize her to sell pictures of YOUR dogs.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | No, London's painting was a surprise. I only gave her permission to do Gracie. You're right, Jodi. I think I will ask her to do seperate paintings for me. Thanks

| If it were me I would tell her That I didn't give you permision to paint my London. So I would like you to please remove them both and ship them to me me. and stay away from painting my dogs again! How rude. Trying to profit from your pictures |

| I would contact ebay directly as well as the seller. Inform them that she had asked permission to paint your Gracie, but not London, and tell them that she never asked permission to SELL those paintings of your babies.

| I found the listings...I agree the paintings are gorgeous! But she shouldn't be claiming them as original artworks, because PHOTOGRAPHS are considered original artworks and they COPIED a photo! If they insist on selling them, you should be legally allowed to request compensation as they are making a profit from YOUR original artwork.

| Oh and if I had it to spare, I would bid on London and send it to you! It also states that Gracie's print is on display in their new york gallery!!! WOW! Your girl is famous!

| wow, the painting really captures your beautiful baby. i agree with above. you may need to re-read the "contract" you signed. if they say that it becomes their property to do with as they like you are out of luck. --is there a get the painting out of hock fund we can donate to?-- |

| She should definitely give you some kind of compensation! It was your dog and your photo she used as a model. And if the one of London was unauthorized well she can't sell it.

| I wanna see them!! Can you tell us the Ebay listing numbers?? But my 2 cents..... If you aren't upset by the fact that she is profiting from your girls, and are just disappointed that the price is rising too fast for you to buy them personally, then I would let it go. She didn't ask for your permission to sell them? Was that maybe implied when she asked if she could paint them? Just wondering. I would also ask her to paint some for you personally to purchase. Maybe she'll do it for a really good price since she's making money off them for other people.

| I bought a pencil drawing of a Yorkie off of Ebay.. not my dog of course.. I just liked the drawing and the Yorkie.. So I understand someone buying a painting of another dog other than their own. I wanna see the paintings too.
