Oh WOW!!!! What a scare!!!! From what I understand bears don't play fair..... I am so glad that your harrowing experience ended well. Did you give the cops the bear facts (or is that bare).

Next time you go for a walk, please take your video camera....you could shoot a video as you are running backwards towards your house.

I had told hubby that is was HUGE and he's like no way Kim when I described it! Well, sure enough one of the neighbors got a picture and they estimated his weight at 600 lbs.!

If that's the case then it's going to be a tough call, but I don't think you can take him....

That's toooo funny! That's exactly what I was thinking as I read the thread!! I didn't figure anyone had ever heard that expression except me!! I'm sure it wasn't funny at the moment but as I read it, the image in my head almost made me fall off my chair laughing!!

I am really glad you made it to your house, but I am sure even YOU are having a laugh about it now....my first thought was after all that and you only had to change your undies??? dang I would have needed a shower cuz I think it would have been running down my legs...and I think my dog would have peed on me! LOL

Wow...a real black bear? Face to face? OMG!!! I just knew there was a good reason to live in Illinois, are there bears in Illinois, I sure hope not! Yes it would have been Forrest Gump all over again, if it had been me...And the poor kitty, can you imagine what's going thru her little head??? So glad you all out ran the bear and made it safely home, where you will stay forever more...

OMG i woulda ran like never before how scary! i dont know what i would do!!! Glad yall got away okay! scary make sure your babies arent outside by themselves he might think its a snack!!!!

It is a little weird that your neighbor got a picture of it which means he or she saw it coming at you and didnt even let you know. He or she just stood there with camera ready to catch footage of the bear eating you or what? That would have me asking "What the heck"? Sure hope he had a gun in the other hand just in case.

You know...I wouldn't put it past him! We have some pretty "whacky" neighbors around here. Lived here for 32 years and I'm sad to say only a few are even nice enough to say a quick "hello" or "how are you?" to!

I didn't see the picture but the one neighbor did. I'm very interested now as to where exactly the bear was when he took the picture.

But I'm going to go with the best choice and say perhaps it was in his front yard and he couldn't see me walking up the road? I'm hoping that's it....

It's hard for me to explain how the houses are set here but try and picture two roads and inbetween the two roads are 2 lots...each one with a house. OMG....I'm horrible at describing things...hope you can picture it. There's probably 500 ft. between the roads with the 2 houses so like I said, I sure hope the bear was in the front of the house when he took the picture.
