| do you understand child abuse?? i think i do..this is supposed to be funny but i am so upset for xmas bought my husband our first big screen tv and i paid it off in under the 90 days, never before could we have done that i was so proud of us, and now my son whose 2 took a spray bottle that i use for cleaning and sprayed the tv to help me clean and now the bottom 7-8inches and all destored (spelling) its messed up. no more warranty, i didnt realize it wasnt a newer tv so the screen if it needs replacing is not obtainable, a service man is 90 bucks just to come out parts and labor not included i cant do that right now, they advised my husband to take it apart clean the screen and see what happens. its getting worse, and he doesnt get home till late and i know he;s tired i want to beat the living daylights out of my boy right now i just sent him to his room and he cried for a few minutes then started playing again. i think im going to cry |

| Sorry for your tv getting messed up. I have a two year old son and it actually made me tear up to think of my son getting such trouble and being sent to his room over doing something that he thought was helping me. I am really about to cry because my baby would not understand why I was so mad at him. I know it has got to be so frustrating...our daughter broke the tv in our master bedroom when she was also 2 (we paid $60 to have it fixed). She actually broke it by turning it off and on....I didn't get mad at her because I felt that at 2 years old, she was too young to fully grasp what just happened and also because it was my fault for leaving her unsupervised in my room. Anyway, sorry that your new tv is giving you problems now and also sorry if I sound like I am harping....just made me sad to think of my baby that is also the same age (just turned 2 in March) if he really felt like he was helping me and I got mad at him. |

| he's 2 and i understand that he's young but he has been told repeatedly not to do this, im mad, my husband isnt because he thinks in the same direction as you, but i do believe in displine and sending him to his room was not mean in my opinion it was to teach him a lesson, i broke 2 tv's back to back as a child and got woopins for both tv's my title for my post was not to be taking literatly i also didnt see your post as harping at all just some people are more senstive to displine then others. i also look at my up bring i was spanked for every wrong doing; my younger sister never got more than a 2 day punsishment and she was the one to get in serious trouble, me? i stay on the straight and narrow so im a firm believer in displine of some sort..i did feel bad when you reminded me he was trying to help..but his helping skills are ..lordy..costly..lol he took my new cell phone and gave it a bath in the toliet to make it "shiney and brand new" for me..lol |

I guess maybe you are right because I am not a believer in "woopins". I STRONGLY believe in redirection and positive reinforcement and my children are truly a joy to be around....comin' straight from their mommy's mouth. For my children, time-out works so I will stick to those things for around here. My 2 year old son is also a handful (typical toddler boy) but if I knew that he was prone to grabbing the water bottle, like you say your son is and I did not put it where he could not get to it, then I think that I should be the one sent to my bedroom for the punishment not him. | dont get me wrong my son is a joy to be around as well and it is my fault about the water bottle, and we do time out in his room he acutally as a naught chair in his room with a chart above it he is extremely smart he already talkes like a "big kid" know the ABC's and the 123's and he is so intouch with emotions and other peoples needs i do feel bad since i calmed down and realized i shoudnt have moved the bottle and not yelled any i actually thought they were all put away (i have too many spray bottles) im new at this full time mommy business..lol i was recently released from work and the same week found out im pregnant with my second child so super nanny has been good and educational..lol |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Awwwww....at 2 he really did think he was helping...I so remember mine at that age and I think it was one of the best ages when raising kids.... but - you really need to put that kind of thing way out of his reach - too many kids will drink cleaning products...you're kind of lucky he only used it to clean .... I know when my boys knew they were in trouble - just the thought of me upset with them usually was punishment enough - that and some time outs.....and I do hope you can fix your tv. |

| My 2 year old granddaughter just did the exact same thing to my daughters new TV. She sprayed windex on it trying to help her mommy clean. Both my son in law and daughter were fit to be tied. While I could understand the frustration of money down the drain like I told them both...it's just stuff! Their story did have a happy ending though. After being told that warranty wouldn't cover the damage my son in law took it apart and dried it with a hair dryer piece by piece. Put it back together and there was still a small line which my daughter said disappeared after a few days. Hope things turn out well for your situation and hugs to your son. I remember a day many many years ago when my little one drew stars in black permanent marking all over the roof of my brand spanking new bronco II. I seriously thought I was going to die but now it's something we not only still speak of often but laugh about.
