| Please help...we had a long night with Minnie.. Minnie slept in my brothers room..last night at around 2am he told me she woke up and was moaning, waving her paws, and her eyes looked like they were coming out of her head!..they brought her downstairs and I went to hold her and she looked like she was dead she couldn't hold herself up and when I put her on the ground she couldn't stand and started to wobble around. Her gums were pale white. So I gave her some nutrical. We called a few emergencies animal hospitals and decided to take her in..now this is new york for you...we get there and Minnie is doing a little better but her gums were still pale and she looked weak..I walk in the door and the first thing the worker says to me is that I have to pay 85$ right now and since I didn't have her rabies papers I had to pay another 25$..then she started going on about how it could cost me 1-2k. I told her I didn't have that kind of money on me and she goes..well then I can't see her..I walked up to her and showed her how bad my situation was and she didn't even care she just looked at me like WHO CARES I NEED THE MONEY NOW. Then she went to get me a number for the aspca and while she was doing that I asked her if she had anything I could give her and shes like no not unless you pay. niiiice...so I call the number and they weren't open at that hour. Today she looks like shes doing better I don't know if I should bring her in? do you think she will be okay? Its not that I don't want to bring her but we don't have that kind of money right now..I'm just asking that if anyone had this happen to their yorkie before could share some information with me..thank you |

| Can you now go to your regular vet? Please take Minnie. Something is wrong. She needs to be checked out. Good luck and keep us posted on her progress. |

| I would take her to your regular vet and have her checked out. They may be willing to work out a payment plan with you if it is going to be costly. But your surely don't want to take the chance of having to go throught this again with her...............an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!! OH, it's just my opinion!

| This does sound serious. I'd call her regular vet, and get her in today. Better safe than sorry, and you don't want another incident in the middle of the night when the only place to go is the Emergency Vet's.

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Oh girl, I am so sorry to hear about this. You must have been scared to death. I know that when Tatum had a big scare a couple of weeks ago, I was in tears and was a total nervous wreck. Her gums were literally, as white as snow. Of course her size makes me freak out even more...but we worry with ANY of ours babies, no matter how big or small they are I cannot even believe that stupid vet. She could have done SOMETHING for you. That just goes to show you what type of "vet" she is though She is very obviously in it for the money, NOT for the love of animals like a GOOD vet should be. I would SERIOUSLY take Minnie to SOMEONE though girl...she REALLY DOES need to be checked out. I totally understand that you guys don't have a whole chunk of change laying around (especially 1-2k) BUT, I'm sure someone will be willing to let you pay it out if it comes down to it. Also, in my experience, emergency vets are ALWAYS more expensive, so it probably won't cost you near that much at a regular vet. Mine is great and will let anyone do a payment plan, no matter how big or small your bill is. I see so many elderly people who come in their with their dogs and just can't afford to pay the vet bill all in one shot, and he never has a problem with people paying it out. He is a really great vet. Just check around girl...I'm sure that being in NY (it is so big) that there is SOMEONE there who will be willing to let you make payments if needed. Good luck and BIG hugs to Minnie Please keep us updated!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Definitely get her checked out. You will never forgive yourself if something happens in the meantime. I guess I would be a very cash-poor vet. There is NO WAY I could stand by with an animal in very obvious distress and just say, "Pay me first." I know what it's like though when you're the one trying to GET care. When my first Yorkie began his rapid health descent, money was VERY tight. (Not like it isn't always, but I honestly didn't have two cents to rub together as the saying goes.) And that was always the first thing on everyone's mind: "How will you be paying for this today?" The most truthful answer would have been: "I'm just winging it and we'll find out together!" I know I can't be alone in knowing what you're going through. Hang in there. Try to think positive because negative energy breeds -- and it's even more destructive. |

| GREAT! I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers today. I just cannot believe how 24/7 Emergency Vets take $$ advantage of people and play on their emotions...... I am so very lucky -- the vet practice I use has an on call vet 24/7 365. So anytime I have an emergency, one of my regular vets is available to me. They do charge extra, but their emergency visit charges are very reasonable. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | oh good - I googled Pale gums and didn't want to scare you - you're doing the right thing and GOOD LUCK AT THE VET - and shame on that ER vet. I know they have to be paid but for a small dog things can really get bad quick. |

My ER service is the same way. Sad but true. $125.00 to walk in after hours is considered an emergency. Money up front or no one will help you. I stopped using the vet service as well when I realized all they cared about is $$$$$$. Good luck to you. Look forward to seeing your post saying it will be ok. Hugs, | |

| That ER vet is a heartless b****! I'm glad Minnie seems better today and that you were able to get an appointment with the vet for her.

| Hey Monkette, just read this. I hope Minnie is OK and I'm glad you can get her in to see someone. Now, you HAVE to become a vet so your babies will always have the best care possible. AND, YT will have an on-call vet . Let me know how you and Minnie make out today.
