Study tips anyone?

It's much easier to remember something when you understand the concept. Try rewriting your notes and reading them over repeatedly until you "get it." I loved biology

That's what I do for everything!! It helps to see it in your own writing.

Also, if there's something you're having a really hard time remembering, draw something special beside it (something funny would probably work best) and you'll remember that then remember what it says.

Haha! It's funny the little tricks we use to remember things...During tests, it was as if I could actually see my notes in my head and where they were on the page...LOL

Me too! I'll be thinking to myself "okay..it's right there, bottom right hand corner, there's a picture right above it - now what does it say!?"

I guess it depends on what you're studying. I know when I was taking my History courses (which I don't care for), I first tried reading a little at a time, taking notes, etc. I found that by the end of the week (test time), I had forgotten most of it. So, I changed my strategy. Keep in mind, this was an internet course. I would set aside an entire weekend, get up Saturday morning and read, take notes, use study guides, etc. and then take the test immediately. I found that I did much better that way. Good luck to you. Hang in there. You'll be glad you perservered!

I have 2nd year microbiology this year Starts in September and I'm already freaking out a bit.

The chemicals in the tuna will help your brain convert the messages into a long-term memory. The chemicals in the peanut butter will release your memory for use.

It makes sense, but I haven't tried it.

A girl in my class said she tried it & she got a better mark than her usual...but she's not the most reliable source lol

That is so funny, when I was in nursing school the day of the test someone in our class would bring a jar of peanut butter and we would all eat a spoonful. I think it just made us thirsty though.

I am the same way. That's how I got through nursing school...and the prerecs (including biology and micro) Understanding the whole process instead of just trying to memorize it. So you can picture it in your mind. I also would come home and rewrite ALL of my notes for that day, and organize them. It helped me to retain it. Anything that really gave me trouble I would read about it until I understood more and then make flashcards to carry with me.

Are you reading a book and learning things from the book? What I did was read the book and highlight certain things that I knew I would need to remember. After I finished the required reading, I would take out a notebook and handwrite out everything that I highlighted... and THEN I would RE-REWRITE it in a shorthand that made sense to me and cut down on the number of pages from the long form I wrote out. I get overwhelmed when I have too many pages, but if I can get it down to manageable amounts by taking out words like 'is', 'the', 'and', 'as', 'or', etc...

rewriting it out twice had it really sinking in, and making it into shorthand that made sense to me really really made in sink in.
