| Paypal Nightmare!! I got an e-mail from paypal saying that they put a hold on account. To be more specific, they put a hold on a payment for something because it came from a computer in CAIRO!! They said all my past purchases have come from New York; so they got suspicious and put a hold on the payment. They said all I had to do was call and approve the payment and they'd process it. OMG!! Umm … lemme think, I've never been to Cairo … so someone got a hold of my password and tried to use it!! SNEAKY PEOPLE!!! They tried to charge $480 to my paypal account!!! I'm just so glad paypal monitors these things and didn't process the payment until they received confirmation from me!! The only thing that really sucks is they temporarily suspended my account because they're investigating everything. I didn't lose any money and wasn't charged any fees … I just can't use paypal for a few days until this is all cleared up. This stinks for me because I'm a big internet shopper but I'd rather not be able to stop for a few days then lost $480 to some friggin thief!!

| It could be a fraud email. I get them all of the time from people pretending to be PayPal. They want you to go in and give them your information. Did the paypal letter adress you as dear paypal customer or did they use your name? Pay pal will never send you an email without using your name. I bet if you go into that letter and type in some bogus user name and passoword, it will open right up for you to input your information. Beware because people are doing this all of the time even with your bank account name on them. I hope you didnt give them any information. I forward all of mine to Pay Pal and never once have they been the one to send the letter to me. |

| Paypal woes. I got hacked back in December and the person who hacked in purchased some stuff on Ebay for a total of $550 which came out of my checking account. Paypal didn't find this though - I did!! They were great about it and I got the $ refunded. I went through extra security measures with Paypal, changed ALL my passwords and I've been fine since. But my Paypal account was frozen for over a week.

| I am glad you called them. I cant even count the emails I have gotten from someone pretending to be Paypal saying my account was frozen and they were all scams. |

No Longer a Member | Did you call the number that came in that email, or did you go to Paypal's website (not from a link in the email) and get the number yourself. It still sounds very phishy to me. |

| Please be careful. If you think there is something wrong with your PayPal account, never respond to an email. Call PayPal! Then document everything. I had my PayPal account hacked and someone in the Philippines bought a computer and over drew my business checking account. I had to change my banking account which was a real PIA. In the process, PayPal did nothing to help and in fact, I was awarded money from a class action lawsuit against PayPal related to their lack of investigation and assistance with fraudulent account access.

| Thanks for the heads up! I just went to PayPal and changed my password... a really tricky one and I don't know if I'll ever be able to remember it... I also have my PayPal account linked to a seperate savings account and never more than a few bucks in it. |
