Oh, don't worry...there are those dangers everywhere in just about every state. Most of the time, you never see them or anything. In fact, we took Mojo hiking at Devils Den just last week and we didn't see one bad thing.... expect for poison ivy. Course, we are always on the lookout and make sure he stays on the middle on the trail.

Not speaking on this subject.....but, on your husbands snake bite.....Now, I'm a 60 year old woman, from California. I was under the assumption that Rattler's didn't exist in the part of the country, why I don't know?????? My husband set me straight on that, as we discussing rattlers just a couple of nights ago.............Dumb Huh! Glad your husband is ok.

Whoa! You really thought that?! I wish that was the case... My mother is from Nevada and she always told stories of huge rattlers out there! I live next to a state park and we have been told that AR trades whitetail deer for rattle snakes (I think from Texas)....isn't that crazy??? And here I am, on 30 acres w/ the park bordering 2 1/2 sides!! YIKES!! We do have a lot out here in the mountains. We took the Jeep out one day and seen a huge one! It was over 5ft long and pretty big around! YUCK!!!!

Not how I wrote that up, lol. The knuckle of the thumb is, well actually the entire thumb is fat and swollen, it's so swollen there isn't any wrinkles in the knuckle, just the two marks with a white ring around them. It looks like a vampire got a hold of his finger, lol. Anyway, it looks really bizarre, and painful, yes, but kinda freaky too. Sorry, poor baby, maybe I am treated him like some type of experiment/project, lol. But if so at least I'm trying to do solid science by documentation!! ![]() The swelling looks a lot better when I cleaned it tonight. Still obviously swollen, but now recognizable as his thumb. Still this horrible, angry red. Looks like he stuck his thumb and the bottom half of his hand in boiling water. He's been sleeping a lot today, and less cranky so I really think the new cream and pain meds are working better. Also, you think I'm fascinated. Jacob was enthralled, wanted to know if his dad would come to school for show and tell on Friday, lol!
