Default Home safe and sound!

We just got home. It was a mob seen of parents at the school. We had to wait in line ouside of the school and the kids were released one at a time. Some kids and parents were calm as can be and some were crying. My daughter was crying and my son was calm. My daughter was interviewed by one of our somewhat local news papers. She is scared to go to school on Monday. I am still unclear on what actually happened, but from what I can gather a student was handing out tickets yesterday at school saying "if you received this ticket you won't be killed by me tomorrow." My daughters boyfriend was offered a ticket and denied it. I guess no one took it serious until today when a not was found at school with a bomb threat. Well i am just happy that they are home safe and sound!! The prom is tomorrow night and I am wondering if this will affect it at all. I am soooo glad that I had the day off. I worked last night and did not get home until 11:15...my kids were still doing homework. I told my son that he better go to sleep soon because I was not keeping him home today. If something had happened I could not have lived with myself. Thanks you soo very much to everyone who replied to this thread. I truly feel like I have my family at home as well as my family on Yorkie talk!!

They know who the kid is. Apparently his grandma died recently and he has been in foster care for the past couple of months from what I have heard. Someone was being searched so I am guessing it was him? There were reporters everywhere so I am sure it will be in our local news as well as the paper. They took my phone number to do an update since they interviewed my daughter. I am just glad it's over!!!

So scarey to ave kids in school in this day and age. It's a damn shame too. I think all threats have to be taken very seriously now. Glad your children are safe.

I'm so sorry you and your children had to go through this. When I was teaching, we got used to it, but never completely. I don't like that they knew there was a problem yesterday with this kid passing out notes. They still kept the school open today when they got a phone call and had to go on lockdown. That's too scary for the kids and for the parents.

Anyway, thank God nothing happened!

That also bothered me, that they had knowledge of a potential problem and blew it off. One parent told me that there were 7 cop cars parked in front of the school at 8 AM. I dropped off my kids at 7:50, had I known this I would have turned around and gone home. My younger daughters school was not in lockdown, but the gates were all closed up and they were not allowed to go to recess today. My daughters teacher has two kids at West High so she left in a panic. I did notice that the teachers and staff appeared calm, but us parents were not. They did not seem at all organized for a scare like this which worries me a little. My daughter said the lights were turned off, doors locked and they could hear people (police officers) walking on the roof. I think that made it seem worse to her than it was, so she is very shakin up. My son thinks he is indestructable. He said "nothing is gonna happen. I am just glad I get to miss school for the rest of the day."

I will be glad when mine are out of school as well!!! I am over protective as it is, this only adds to my paranoia.
