I remember being a first time member here. It was Villette that first pm-d me and made me feel at home. Over time, I had made some really close friends. It went from simple pm-s to phone calls. Now days, I don't hang with anyone. I kinda keep to myself. :) |

I don't always respond to everything that interests me because I can't do them all. And I don't respond to the negative/slamming posts unless it's apparent that the poster needs some encouragement toward the positive or I have facts that are different than what he or she says. If they're just being slammers, I stay away. I don't want to encourage that. I've met some special people here on YT. I think we're a pretty good group of people!:) |
I just started looking at the bottom of the main forum page and looking at the birthdays. I look at their profil page and if they have been on recently I send a Happy Birthday wish.... I figured it might just be a little something to get my foot in the door. And maybe just maybe bring just a little joy to their day. Angi |

I found YT while I was searching for help with my Chi who was born with a cleft palate. And even though she wasn't a Yorkie, ALOT of people reached out to me to help me, as I think my very 1st post was a scream for help!!! Never even took a second to introduce myself :) I loved all the help and concern I recieved for my baby Tia and I decided to stick around. Since then...there have been days I may have felt unloved or no one answered my threads and my feelings may have been hurt a bit, but over all........I think I've mat some AWESOME, HEARTFILLED, LOVING, CARING, GIVING, HELPFUL....... I could go on and on....people ever. I think I actually felt I belonged when all the xmas cards coming in :D :D :D Its was the 1st time I ever got sooooo many cards !!! I love everyone here........YT has been great  :yorkietal |

Sent Stinky a Birthday wish and got a Thank you in reply. I just think it is neat to have someone notice you on your one & only special day.. |
I think that with these online boards, you have to make yourself known. Whether it's posting a picture of your furbaby or asking for advice, you have to post in order to get recognized. Even if it means your post might be controversial! :) There are times when I want to post, and then I think "are these people going to think that I'm an idiot?" In the end, I probably delete 3/4 of the things that I type... I really appreciate everyone's help from Izzie's lack-of-growth-spurt to just showing off pictures of her! :D |
She A Beauty I JUST JOIN IN TODAY, AND YET NO ONE TALKS TO ME:cry: :eyetearss |

I'm anxiously awaiting to feeling like I belong & making lots of friends :ghug: Thank You YorkieRose for responding to my pm you've been very helpful:) |
I will really feel like I "belong" once I meet some people. I have never met anyone on this forum. It's hard to put faces on people if you have never met. After a year of being a member I still don't pm anyone on this site. That said, everyone is very helpful here. I'm glad I found YT. Since Rosie is my first dog, I had lots of questions. Now I know more about dogs than my co-worker's who had dogs all their life. |
To everyone who still doesn't quite feel like they "belong" - HI!! A LOT - most - of our members felt the same exact way at one time or another! and well I'm Megan! Nice to meet you, wanna be friends? My PM box is always open, and I'm usually signed onto AIM (My screen name is yrklvr4 - IM me!)! I hope to "meet" you soon! |

THANKS MEGAN!!!:D :D :D :ghug: |

But most of all, I think I realized I am a member of a group that all have one thing in common for sure: our love of this breed!!! I also realized, since i am on here EVERY day, that I am a YorkieHolic, and I NEED you guys :p :p You are my therapy, my rationalization that it is ok to be so obsessed with my babies :thumbs up Oh yeah, and making 500 posts and getting whatever I wanted under my Avatar name was a special moment too. |
I felt like I belonged almost immediately. I was so distraught that I had bought a puppymill baby. Then she was sick from the get go. Yet no one judged me, yet offered continual support. It also seemed that I could never ask a "stupid" question. Which made me feel at home even more. Heck, today I spoke with Daisy Mae on the telephone. GREAT lady btw. LOL |
I'm starting to make friends on here and its wonderful |
I felt like I fit in right away. The community was still relatively small back then, and it was easy to keep up with everyone and their babies! |
It's funny to come across this thread today...I have been a member here for a year and half. I confess, I read more than I post. This is a wonderful site though, so helpful and lots of nice people. I didn't feel like I "belonged" for forever, then I started to feel like I did, and was posting more. I have just been out of town for a month, though, with no internet (and it was very, very hard:p ) and when I came back and posted about missing YT, I only got one "welcome back" (thanks Blondiegrl) and was feeling kinda...uh, don't know the exact wording for it, but was feeling it. But, I have gotten over myself;) and I think posts get lost in the shuffle of so many, so I am not gonna take it personally:rolleyes: I do love this site, though, I am definitely addicted to it and if everyone doesn't know me, oh well, I just enjoy all the pics and helpful advice. I also enjoy using all these smilies!!! |
So funny to come across this thread. I was just wondering today, as I was reading through some posts, if I will ever feel like I belong. Everyone seems so close and I am sure this takes time. I am very new but have been so lucky to have gotten to know Jeanie (JeanieK) better. I am spoiled to our daily emails, usually several emails a day. She is such a nice woman...great representation of the kindness on this board! :) I am excited to get to know you guys better!! Tammy |
I think I got lucky. Moments after my first post DaisyMae pm'd me and was so excited to have another member from Nebraska. I thought that was awesome and honestly I was giddy! I think the longer Sophie is a part of our family the more I will be able to contribute to other posts. |
I have been a member for almost a year now and at times I still feel as though I don't belong or that I am not noticed. But I love it here and have made a few friends and would like to make more friends.:) |

you're right - SOME THREADS GET MISSED ...it's just so impossible now to reply to them all. I used to give it my all american try but lately it's just ain't happenin :D I've slowed down in posting alot compared to before.... and for those who don't feel they 'belong'....all I can say is KEEP Posting and don't take the amounts of replies vs views personally. There are many many people who read only. If you want to be noticed and get to know people better - POST ! Replying to pictures is the easiest way to build up your post count - we all can't offer advise all the time but it takes NO effort to tell someone they have a cute yorkie !! |
I haven't made the conection with many people yet but hopefully there is someone there who'd like to be friends. And I might find them one day. |
