LOL Funny you said that - when I joined I came from a big (now closed) site and we invaded YT :eek: :eek: ....I found YOU bettyeanne as one of the nicest people I've ever met online and you still are....

Back then I didn't feel I 'belonged' here but once I started posting up a storm I sure did. This site has always been great and it's a far cry from the tiny little yorkie site it started at...After 22 thousand posts it still isn't boring and I've met so many wonderful people here I can honestly say I changed how I felt about 'meeting' people on the net.

We're all here because we LOVE yorkies - so we all have that in common & after being online for years now - I've met some of the best people I could 'meet' and also have seen people that made me shake my head in wonder (thankfully they're a tiny minority) :p ....

it takes time to get to know people on a more personal level - but there are ways to do it.....For those who are just getting started - try pm'ing someone - or try a few posts in the picture section to get started....it really works and one day you'll feel like you've been here forever. We're a huge site made up of many personalities. We won't always agree with everything said but the nice thing is we are free to express ourselves and have a great moderator here to keep it running smoothly.

going off of what Villette said... a GREAT way to get people to post on your thread is by posting a picture of your yorkie. I get the MOST replies if it is just a picture of layla and i doing.. whatever... everyone LOVES to see pictures especailly of puppies!

I've started to feel like I belong a lot more just recently. I have realized that to be a part of something, you have to actually get involved and not just sit back. So I have started to share my experiences more and comment on others, so that everyone can get to know me and my babies! I think this is a wonderful group and I am proud to be a part of it! :D

LOL Girl, I LOVE reading your posts and Bobbi is one of my favorite guys on here at YT!! And as to being a thread killer, I'm one too! LOL I really do think I deserve to win the "thread killer" thread because I am pretty sure I've killed the most on here...even ones I've started myself :eek: :p

LOL, that's what I heard about CT. It's kinda the opposite with me here everyone wants to know your life story and ask really weird questions about where I am from. I came from a place were people pretty much left you alone unless they knew you had the same things in common but they were never usually downright mean like they have been to me here. Generally speaking, I do have to say that people were more pleasant to me in NY than they are here (generally speaking). I guess that's what has caused me to be a hermit and stop my search for friends here. But I digress.

Not to go all stalker on you but I do look for your post about Bobbi because I think he is sooo beautiful (is okay to call a boy beautiful?). Okay he is sooo manly, LOL!

I do enjoy looking at pics of everyones babies and try to comment on the ones I see. I like posting pics of my baby too but I didn't want to overkill the site with pics of Queequeg.

I am very thankful to this site because for one, I found my boy here through a lovely breeder. YT has watched him grow since he was born :p

I guess when I ordered Abbie's first harness from Connie, and she was so sweet to write on days with just chit-chat. Then, I began reaching out to offer avatars to some (I can't resist a cute Yorkie face!) and felt more a part, when I would see them around the board.

Then, participating in the Gift Exchange did a little more to help me feel a part of the community.

Of course, there are some days, I still feel disconnected.

I've been on here a while & I'm not feeling it yet....The people that I remember are the ones that have some drama (i.e. as in a lost or very ill yorkie, or a family in crisis) going on that I come to know a bit better & remember....A lot of people are known by their real names also & not their screen names...that helps on a more personal level...& the thread that puts a face to a name really adds that extra touch.....I realized that I've never posted a pic. or added my name to my signature & I've started posts but didn't stick around to interact w/ the people posting...entirely my fault....So if maybe we're not feeling included ask ourselves what can we do different. :)

I don't know. I mean granted it's nice to feel like you belong but I was never one to try hard to fit in. If I fit I do, if I don't; I don't. Eventually if I don't feel like I belong I move on. So far I have not felt completely alienated from this site though.

Isn't that the truth! I wonder how many people have had their day made when Villette PM's? I have not taken her up on the generous avatar offer but I will when I finally get a good pic of all mine. I have felt fairly welcome from the beginning. I actually felt this was a very non-cliquish site. Sure some have known each other a long time and have history -- but the ones that have been here the longest also seem to be the ones to reach out to new folks. I think it is normal in any group that the new people think they are not at the hub of things. Try moving to a small town! :) We have been here for 16 years and are still the "new folks." But I did find out that even the "new folks" can initiate the first conversation and make great friends.

I agree with your post - for a big site like this I don't really think it's clickish either - of course there are people who may post back and forth, but in general everyone gets fair play I think.....The best way for a new person to get noticed is to just jump in with both feet. This is now a VERY big site...it's hard keeping up with everyone but the more your name is on the site the better chance people have of getting to know you....

For those who are REALLY new - same applies lol - it used to be where we could welcome every new member but it's close to impossible now... so if you feel a little shy - Start a thread or post some pictures. If you need help - ask !!

LOL I am just thinking about how many times I have asked Villette to help with my avatar or signature. She is so helpful and sweet.

During the time that I thought I wouldnt be able to get my baby, everyone here was very supportive.

I'm still not to the "I belong here" point yet. I tend to read a lot more than I post, but I'm trying to do better! I think tonight has been my best YT night so far because I've had lots of PMs and been involved in the threads much more than I ever have before.

I posted saying I was new but didnt get the welcome(oh well), everyone got so just kept trying, then realized I needed pictures but only got 6 oohs and awes(oh well) so kept trying. Now tonight I posted a thread and didnt realize I posted in wrong forum and they moved it now I feel like leaving the field. but I will cheer on. Sorry admin. I dont PM but one member because I dont want to intrude, and feel I am intruding then. I have hard time making friends
and lost my only friend in Nov. very unexpectedly
and I live in small town and live way out of town so I just enjoy my animals and my hubby of 35 years.

I sit up with my daughter most nights and while she can sleep I search the internet for information and support for her disability. One night a couple of years ago trying to stay awake I came across YT. It was so informative and friendly and had something I didn't have that much of..interaction with people..even if it were online. While I don't talk much about the homelife I have not had a problem talking about Gizmo and his health problems. When I have a question or he is having a spell with the HGE or Pancreatitis people have come out of the woodwork with kind wishes, suggestions and inquiries. This is when I first felt I belonged, even tho I don't post that much I am here most times just lurking.:D Thank you all for being there.
