| This is a dear post for me. A family friend suffered from cancer at a VERY early age. He went bald but he hurt for all the girls who lost their hair. He would see them in the hospital and that was one of the biggest concerns for many of them. Hair is such a precious thing for the teenage and young girls. He was not so concerned about himself but his friends he met at the hospital. Locks of Love does accept colored hair just not bleached. Your hairdresser should be able to help you. Passionfruition - hairs off to you (sorry for the pun-I couldn't resist) for the wonderful sacrifice you made especially with your hair color. If you haven't looked at the Locks of Love website, you really should. There are great before/after shots of the recipients. It will make you want to grow your hair just to cut it off like kp&nala. By the way. Your hair looks terrific short!!! Donate Hair 1. We accept 10" minimum hair length (tip to tip), not wigs, falls, or synthetic hair 2. Please bundle hair in ponytail or braid. 3. Hair needs to be clean, dry, placed in a plastic bag, then padded envelope. 4. We need hair from men and women, young and old, all colors and races. 5. Hair may be colored or permed, but not bleached or chemically damaged (if unsure, ask your stylist). 6. Hair swept off the floor is not usable. 7. Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid. 8. Hair that is short, gray, or unsuitable for children will be separated from the ponytails and sold at fair market value to offset the cost of manufacturing. 9. You may pull curly hair straight to measure the minimum 10". 10. The majority of all hair donated comes from children who wish to help other children. 11. Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails for donation. 12. Please note: Anyone can cut your hair as long as the above guidelines are followed. |

| What a wonderful thing you did!!!! I always try to encourage my customers who have extremely long hair to do the same, and as an incentive- I do their cuts for free if they cut enough off and donate it!!!! I have one younger little girl who has cut her hair 3 x's for Locks of Love!!!! The 1st time she was 4, the 2nd she was almost 7, them again when she turned 10. And wants tokeep doing as long as her hair grows long enough!!! She is such an angel!!! By the way-- your new look is stunning!!!! You probly feel like a whole new person!!!! And your hair looks sooo shiny and healthy and silky!!!! I wish there were more people like you and were willing to do that!!! Bless you!!!! |

| i would just like to point out number eight........ i'm not saying this isnt a good thing BUT i am a little concerned that they are not ENTIRELY truthfull... I talked to a family friend who was a hairdresser and she said yeah SOME hair goes to kids, but the rest make wigs for "rich people"!!!! My aunt got hers cut off and they said "it is not the right kind of hair people would want to buy, but thanks for trying" (key word being BUY!!!!)........ again i am sure SOME of the hair goes to where they say it does but statistics can be arranged to look however you want it to look |

| I donated to Locks of Love a few months ago. My hair ended up much shorter than yours after it was cut though - it was under my chin. It's one of the best things I think I've ever done and I can't wait to do it again!

| Whenever someone sacrifices for someone else, it shows their true character. My best friend is 35 and is loosing her hair to Chemo. She has always had long hair, and for her, this is the worse part of having cancer. She says that when you loose your hair to Chemo you loose your privacy, because everyone knows what is wrong with you. She doesn’t want people to look at her and see a sick person. She doesn’t want to look in a mirror, because it is a constant reminder that she is sick. You have done a wonderful thing.

| Wow - that's amazing. You've really inspired me. I just looked at the website & I think I'm going to donate! I have really long thick curly red hair & have been wanting to chop it all off for a while now. What better excuse is there?! Thanks for sharing this - I hope it inspires others too! Good for you!

| I think you did a fantastic thing. You still look beautiful and have beautiful hair. My daughter and my two nieces all cut off their hair last summer and donated it to Locks of Love. It was so funny to see those three ponytails laying on the counter, but they were so happy that they helped someone else out. WAY TO GO !!! |

| You look BEAUTIFUL!!! I donated my hair a few years ago and it felt so good to do something so great! I LOVE that you did this and I think your hair is so pretty, regardless of length! I bet Sully loves it too P.S. I've been applying for jobs in Tennessee to get closer to my family so maybe Simon/Hallie and Sully can have a playdate soon! Again, you did an amazing thing! Way to go! |
