| epidural or no epidural?? Ok, So I dont know if I want to do the whole epidural thing or not. Putting a needle in my spine, freaks me out A LOT. I know I want really know till its time for me to have the baby, But I just want some input on it. my mom didnt do the epidural with me or my brother and he was 10lbs!...My Aunt did with her Son 6 month ago and told me at the time, dont have a kid with out one lol... so I know it depends on how well you can take pain.. So if you had one, did it really help with the pain and did it hurt when they put the needle in your spine? and if you didnt have one... Would you do it all over again with out getting one? |

| My mom said that she was hurting so bad that the epidural needle actually felt good! hahahaha I don't have children yet, but when I do, I'm DEFINATELY getting an epidural. I have never met anyone who has gotten one and regretted it, but I have met people who have not gotten one and regretted it. |

| I've only given birth to one child and back in 'the day' they didn't have any epidurals. i did have one with my last major surgery and had an allergic reaction to the medication. I was wild and very sick. i didn't want it to start wwith being a retired nurse but my surgeon insisted. never again. My ex DIL had one for her first child and didn't do a thing for her. But she was very young and scared to death and fought against it. |

| My sister in law just had a baby over the weekend and she was in ALOT of pain before she had the epidural. And then after she got it she sat up in bed and talked and joked and laughed with us for the rest of the day! Until it was time to start pushing she was not in any pain at all, and then she started to feel the pressure. There is no way in this world that I could have an all natural child birth. I also have a friend that doesnt believe in any kind of drugs like that and she gave birth to a little boy almost a year ago. She went through the whole thing without any kind of drug. She is due to have another little boy this December ( I know shes crazy) and she plans on doing the same thing with this one. So I think that it depends on how much pain you can tolerate!

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | OK i had 2 babies my first one i got the epidural but it wore off before i had him and they wouldn't give me any more but this was 6 yrs ago and they have epidural drips now so that doesn't happen but anyway i pushed out a 9 lb 5 oz baby boy with no drugs and i thought i was gonna DIE!!!!!! my second baby i was 7 cm dialated before i got to the hospital and was in the most excruciating pain i have ever felt (worse than the first delivery) so they got me in and put that epidural in and i was fine didn't feel a thing so in my opinion YES GET THE EPIDURAL!!!!!!! Besides it helps you rest and be able to keep strength to push trust me it's hard to push if your exhausted from labor pains and it doesn't make you less of a person if you get one i think it makes you smart lol

| I have two children. I did not have an epidural. They did give me some shot, in the butt, that calm me down a little. Once you hold that baby, the pain seemed so minimal. I would not have changed the experience for nothing. Most of my friends had C-sections. Doctors liked scheduled births. It makes it a lot easier for the doctors. I feel sorry for my friends that did not get to experience natural birth. (well semi-natural, I like the calming medication). |

| NO NO NO epidural. By the time they give you the epidural the worst of it is over. With the epidural you don't get the adrenalin rush. Personally I believe there is no harder work nor no greater feeling than the satisfaction of a job well done. With an epidural you miss the best part. I had a Dr that didn't believe in them so therefore I didn't have any. My daughter and DIL neither one had one, and another daughter has always had C sections, so she has had them and been terribly sick every time. She says if she didn't have to have the c sections, she would definitely choose not to have the epidural. Natural births are what separate the Women from the boys. LOL |

It's so true, those who have them miss a lot, but it is something that is hard to explain to someone who has never experienced it. there is nothing else in the world like it to even compare it to. I had 4 natural, my twins were c section. | |
