my mom has been away for the past few weeks on a job thingie.. and will be back next week.. so we will all be celebrating mothers day when she returns, which buys me time to get her a gift!.. plus im just waiting for payday (which it tuesday) so i can really spoil my mom.. i dont know what to get her to be honest.. she has everything she needs, and the things she likes aren't like most moms.. she likes tools, (she loves to fix up our house - but she isn't a manly mom lol) she looks like me.. she can be girly, but she doesn't like clothes.. she always told me if i'm ever going to buy her anything for her.. she wants something for the house.. but the thing is i have no idea whats a good gift!! maybe some of you could help me out with some ideas.. i dont want to just get her the old.. flowers, doll and balloons (i used to get her that when i was younger.... but i want to get her something better since i have a job now! lol... any ideas would be great!

My mom passed away in July of 2000. I missed her so much. She was only 54. I sent some ecard to my Sister and grandmother. We also talk awhile on the phone because they live out of state. Money has being very tied so i will get them something when I can. Like my hubby said "Mother's day" is every day. My hubby and kids served me breakfast in bed.

I have been in the poor house of late so I was trying to think of the best possible gift I could get my mom that didn't cost much. I asked her what she wanted and all she said was "All I want for Mother's Day is for you to listen to me, do good in school, land a good job in your career and take care of me when I'm ready to retire" (the most typical MOM answer. She tells me this EVERY year!). So, instead, later on tonight I am going to go out to her salon (our family owns a salon in Dallas and she is a hairstylist there but they're closed Sundays) and I am going to decorate her workstation. I printed out pictures of me and my older brother and stuck it in a nice glass frame. I bought balloons and streamers and I made my own banner that says "THE WORLD'S BEST MOMMY, I LOVE YA!" to hang across her mirror. I made her my own custom card to stick on her chair. I also got her a vase and filled it up with marbles and roses. I know she'll be shocked tomorrow when she sees it! I can't wait!

My mom has been in search of a little orange kitten for about the past 3 months. Do any of you have any idea how hard it is to find an orange kitten when you want one?? I have called probably 10 different adds for kittens in the newspaper and checked all the local rescues and shelters within 100 miles of my house and all I have found is older cats. My mom has never had a little kitty so she really wanted one. Anyway, after searchig secretly for her, I stopped over at a friends farm this morning and by gosh, what decided to climb up my leg and onto my shoulder????? A LITTLE ORANGE KITTY!!! I asked my friend what he wanted for the kitty, he chuckled and said nothing since it was just a barn cat........ It smelled like cow poo since it was on a farm so I took it into work and gave it a really nice bath, dried it off, and put a pretty little pink bow around its neck. (My co-worker checked it out and figured out that it is a girl) I then went to the Hallmark store and got a really pretty bag for it. Drove to moms, put little kitty in the bag and walked into moms. I handed her the bag and she looked inside and started laughing. She had tears in her eyes, hugged me and thanked me then told me that she wanted to show me something in the living room. We get in the living room and her black lab is all curled up on the couch sound asleep with 2 other little orange kittys. 2 of my brothers did the same thing for her. I then figured out why my friend with the farm chuckled when I asked what he wanted for the kitty. All 3 kitties are from his farm. LOL Mom is going to keep all 3 kitties since she has been in search of one for so long and since as she says "you kids finally paid attention and got something that I really wanted," All 3 kittys are girls so she named them: Daisy (pink colar), Daffy or Daffodil (purple collar) and Lily ( yellow collar). I guess on her birthday I better call my brothers to see what they are getting her.

| Soooo ... ReconsMomma, you and your brothers wound up giving your Mom a sweet little "bouquet" after all!! Good job! My Mom is almost 90 and since we are in Colorado and won't be going home until the end of this month to visit, I decided not to send my "usual" .. flowers. Instead I decided to give her a trip to the spa for a massage & a trip to the beauty salon for "the works" ... she won't do these things for herself! I treasure every year I have her with me!
