When getting a breed such as a pitbull, one has to make sure that the breeder is completley trust worthy and honest in all ways. Other wise the temperment could be thrown off. Also, it's very important to meet the father because a lot of times the dog ends up having the same temperment as his/her dad.

Aw how sad I agree, while usually I believe most vicious dogs are probably because they were taught to be that way by ignorant owners, but sometimes dogs are more naturally vicious than others. Like any other trait, if aggressiveness is in their lines, it can be passed on. I wouldn't mind owning a pitbull someday, but I would be very careful of the breeder I bought from and with checking the lines. Some people are idiotic and breed there dogs to be like that, and it's really unfair for the pups and the unsuspecting buyers. Of course these breeders wont advertise to the general public "Mean, vicious puppies for sale" so they lie and say "sweet adorable loving puppies".

LOL....omg....that visual is so funny..... On a more serious note....I personally have always loved Pit Bulls....however...I'm also aware that despite many of the positive accounts from people who have them.....they are a tremendous responsibility to own. And although I would like to believe that it is merely the individual dog's personality.... the truth is that there are aggressive/protective GENETIC tendencies within the majority of Pit Bull lines. They were bred for their their fighting/protective characteristics as far back as the 1800's. In Defense...they are not alone....these tendencies are also apparent in many other Breeds...including Rottweilers...Dobermans...German Shepherds (which my family owned several...and believe me...although they were well trained , friendly and affectionate toward my family members (many of them toddlers), they were completely untrustworthy toward strangers...and we did NOT train to be that way, and my father actively discouraged their behavior. Shame on the Breeders and individuals that have taken this beautiful , comical, courageous Pit Bull Breed , .....and turned them into a weapon to be hated and feared.... Francie | |
