I just heard that four floors are on fire. Pray for those inside.
It was also said that being a small plane it did not have to register with
air traffic. Get home safe Jenn.

Just came on the news here in mount airy, nc. Says a small plane. That is weird with the date. Stay safe.

Fox News Channel here said a "fixed winged" aircraft is what crashed - 2 people confirmed dead, more trapped - no official word on those numbers.

Please God, keep them safe!!

I watched United 93 last night and now seeing this on the news...

OMG!! I freaked out when I read that and immediatly turned to the news....that sends chills down my spine!!

From what I have heard it does not look like a terrorist attack...thank God...but those poor people in the building and the pilot!!

Praying now for everyone involved!!

NEW YORK (CNN) -- An aircraft has crashed into the middle of a brick luxury high-rise residential building on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 72nd Street and York Avenue, police officials said.

The building is very close to the East River. There was no word on casualties as firefighters battled the flames that shot up from several windows in the middle of the building. The Federal Aviation Administration has said a "general aviation" aircraft had hit the building.

A North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) spokesperson, which monitors air traffic, told CNN that it had not been tracking the aircraft.

Witness Sarah Steiner told CNN that fires were burning on the ground. "It looks like the plane just flew into someone's living room there." (Watch the orange flames ravage the apartment -- 1:50)

"It looks as if the aircraft didn't go into the building but fell down," she said. "It may be part of the debris burning on the ground."

Steiner said that when she arrived, she saw fire shooting out of two windows on the 30th floor of the 50-story building.

Video from the scene shows at least three apartments in the high-rise fully engulfed in flames.

I balled my eyes out when I watched United 93. And I literally got sick during the movie (from my own memories) and threw up. I lost a friend that day. He was a husband and father of 3 children and to this day, his wife Brenda is not right (mentally) ... after his death and 9/11, she had a break down and was hospitalized for months.

I just read that they are sending up the fighter planes in major cities...just as a precaution...I don't they know whats going on yet...for those of you in the city today...be safe getting home...

Yes, I can see the smoke from my window. I'm scared too ... but that is exactly what terrorists want ... they WANT to put fear in our hearts. After 9/11, my ENTIRE family tried to talk me out of working in Manhattan for months. They cried and pleaded with me. But I REFUSE to let those bastard terrorists win. That's their ultimate goal (besides killing people) ... to make people so afraid that they will change their whole life around according to that fear. And so a few years later, I'm still here working in Manhattan. I love NYC and I love our people -- we're brave and strong.
